Banjo, Banjo, Banjo. What is there to say about this handsome hunk of border collie? He’s got the looks, the soulful eyes, the shepherds flag tail tip and 25 cues and tricks to impress your friends. Unsurprisingly, we’ve been getting a lot of inquiries about Banjo and his big brown eyes, and for good reason! Who wouldn’t want to tackle the Lake Valhalla Trailhead and pose for that perfect instagram shot with this guy? The brand deals practically write themselves! There is, however, one teensy, tiny little problem with that business plan. You see, Banjo – as good looking as he is – has got some significant beef with other dogs. Seriously. We’ve got an excellent management care plan in place for him thanks to the efforts of his current and previous fosters, trainers and our behaviorist. We know exactly what makes Banjo tick and what chords to strum to help soothe his anxiety so he can live a normal life. But make no mistake, Banjo is a dog you will be managing like CAA manages their artists. So here is a quick rundown of the most commonly asked questions we get about Banjo on social media.1.Is he ok with other dogs? No. 2.Will he ever be ok with other dogs? Probably not. 3.How about kids? Older kids (7+ years and up) are probably fine.4.How about cats/small pets? Nope. 5.Housetrained? Yep!6.Crate trained? Yep!7.Does he play the banjo? He actually really likes listening to his foster mom playing the banjo! 8.Does he have that border collie ‘zeal’ to work? Kind of, he’s actually pretty mellow once he’s settled in and he’s not looking for other dogs or cars to react to. He’s not the dog you need to work 24/7/365, but he will need daily exercise in his own space.9.Does he need a yard? While we normally say ‘naww, work with what you’ve got!’ – this dog actually really needs a yard where he can exercise and relax in peace. 10.What is he trained in? Agility, mostly, but he’s game for anything that doesn’t involve him being anywhere near another dog. 11.Where does he like to go? The beach! Just be mindful of interacting with other dogs. This activity might be better suited for a rare treat for him, since it will require quite a bit of scouting work on the part of his handlers to make sure the path is clear. Overall, Banjo’s needs are well known and he thrives when cared for according to his management plan. His current and former foster parents are ready and willi
