My story

Hi there, I'm Billy Bee! I'm only 6 months old. I weigh 30 lbs, and I am learning to be the goodest boy around! Here's what my foster parents have learned about me so far: 🦴 I loveeee toys! I'm full of puppy energy and I want to chew on my toys all the time. I'm still learning that slippers are friends, not food, but I will focus on a bone or a toy and entertain myself endlessly 🦴 This big world is a little scary, but I'm so brave! With lots of positive reinforcement, I'm learning to be confident and face all the new things. On walks, I like to be your shadow so that you can protect me from scary windchimes and chirping birds. This means I don't pull on the leash and will stay with you! 🦴 I am still learning how to tell you that I need to go potty outside. When I'm out there, I know it's time to go! So if you take me out regularly, I won't have accidents in the house. 🦴 I am really smart, and very food-motivated! I'm learning basic commands and tricks because I keep getting yummy rewards when I do the right things. I like puzzle games and using my nose to find treats! 🦴 I would love to snuggle with you at night! I sleep through the whole night in my foster parents' bed and will even go grab toys to snuggle with if I get bored at night! 🦴 I'm still learning to love my crate ... I get so sad when my foster parents leave, but it only takes me a couple minutes to settle down and take a puppy snooze. I am the the typical silly, loveable and energetic puppy. If I can just find my people, ones who want to spend time with me, train me and love me for life, I know I will be the very best dog. Please apply today! Adoption fee: $80. Adopt a pair: $120. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be. Examples: Identify these mixed breed dogs (pdf) Now, compare these canine DNA results with the survey responses to see that dog breeds cannot be visually identified, not even by the experts. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Billy Bee, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
