My story

At first glance, Izzy may seem like just another black dog in the shelter. Take a closer look!! Not only does Izzy have the cutest little face, he also has the kind of gaze that stops you in your tracks and says “Pick me!! Love me!!” Just look at what his volunteer pals have said:“I’ve been taking Izzy to small playgroups with a couple of other dogs and he does great! He’s polite, says hello to the other dogs, and does his own thing, exploring the play yard. He thrives on human attention and affection, and as soon as I talk to him or give him a scritch, his whole face lights up. I’m so fond of this little blockhead!”“On our walk tonight, it was wonderful to see Izzy`s self-confidence. He was easy to leash and calm in his kennel when I approached to take him out. Izzy was mellow during the walk and eagerly approached and took treats gently from my hand. Every time a treat would come out, his tail would happily wag and then slow down and eventually stay still as he munched his treat, almost like he needed to focus on eating it. When the treats came to an end, he would politely look up at me for more. On our return, a rabbit ran across the path, which would have sent most dogs into a tizzy. But Izzy was tizzy-free! He looked at the bunny and remained walking calmly next to my side. Izzy is a very sweet dog!”“Today Izzy was easy to leash and we left the kennel area. He went potty as soon as we got outside like a good boy and then we started off on our walk. He was a really great walking buddy. He walked with a loose leash and enjoyed sniffing all of the smells. Izzy is an easy guy to please and I really enjoyed spending time with him.”Izzy has also gone on a couple of field trips and has gotten an A++++ report card! He took a day off of shelter life to relax, watch TV and get snuggles in a home. He was described as a gentle giant and a snuggle bug with an independent side. On other field trips, Izzy has sampled puppuccinos at Starbucks, explored parks around Tucson, and even hit the McDonald’s drive through. He loves to ride in the front seat and has gotten stellar reviews on every outing, described as “the sweetest cutie pie ever”.During a brief stay in a foster home Izzy did fine with kiddos and other dogs and was housebroken with a regular potty schedule. His foster described him as cuddly, loving, calm, and protective. When meeting other dogs in playgroup Izzy has been tolerant, independent, and easygoing. H
