My story

Meet Star! She is a 14lb, 8yo, Chihuahua mix with ears for miles. Star came into foster care as an owner surrender due to no fault of her own, she is a lovely little girl who developed diabetes and her previous owner could no longer care for her. Star’s ideal home would have an experienced owner who is familiar with canine diabetes. Star can be a little fussy when it comes time to give insulin so a home that knows how to give insulin shots (2x’s a day) will be required for the rest of her life. In addition to her insulin shots, she also just had cataract surgery and will need prescribed eye drops at least once a day to maintain her eyesight. Star has gotten used to the shots and eye drops so aside from her occasional fussiness she is the biggest sweetheart…she is dog and cat friendly and even likes kids. Star knows all her basic commands (sit, stay, come, paw, etc…), she is crate trained and LOVES to be outside, she would love a fenced in yard so she can just lounge. Now that Star has her sight back, she is very toy motivated and will play with you for hours. She loves car rides and lots of belly rubs, once you gain her trust she’ll forever be by your side. Who has room in their lives for this special needs girl, you will not be disappointed at what a true love bug she is!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Star, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
