My story

Boba’s story is one of resilience and hope. This sweet boy has faced more challenges in his two short years of life than any cat should have to endure. While we don’t know every detail of his past, we do know that his journey has been filled with uncertainty and fear. In October 2022, Boba was surrendered to a high-kill shelter. The person who brought him in shared that Boba had spent his first year as a stray on the streets of Houston before being brought inside. Unfortunately, they eventually decided they couldn’t handle the number of cats in their home, and poor Boba was sent to the shelter—where he was placed on death row. With time running out, Furry Friends Animal Aid stepped in and saved him just 30 minutes before his deadline. Terrified and overwhelmed, Boba arrived at the shelter too scared to let anyone near him. But with time, patience, and the kindness of his foster family, Boba began to show his true personality—a goofy, sweet, and loving boy who just needed a chance to trust again. Boba’s journey to healing hasn’t been quick, but it has been remarkable. He spent the first month in his foster home decompressing in a kennel, adjusting to his new environment, and recovering from his trauma. Slowly, he began to let his foster mom touch him and even started having “conversations” with her at night, chirping and chatting when the house was quiet. These nightly talks were the first step in Boba’s path to opening up. Over time, Boba grew more comfortable. He surprised everyone by climbing into bed with his foster mom one night, curling up next to her, and allowing her to pet him—even his belly! Now, he loves bedtime cuddles and seeks affection when he feels safe, although he still retreats to his kennel for alone time when he needs it. Boba absolutely adores other cats and greets them with chirps and coos. He’s a submissive boy who gets along well with most cats, but care should be taken to ensure he isn’t bullied by more dominant ones. His ideal home will have friendly feline companions who can help him feel secure and confident. Boba will need a very special adopter—someone patient, kind, and willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust at his own pace. He thrives when allowed to move forward on his own terms, and rushing him into new environments or social situations would only hinder his progress. His adopter must be committed to understanding his needs and providing a stable, loving environment where he can continue to grow and trust. If you’re ready to give Boba the second chance he deserves and are willing to walk alongside him on his journey, please apply to adopt him through Furry Friends Animal Aid. Boba has so much love to give to the right person—he’s just waiting for his forever home. Please apply at furryfriendsaa.org/adopt/

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Boba, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
