Fox came to the rescue as an intact male with very little known history, and lots of misplaced energy. Fox was able to complete his intake veterinary care and neuter surgery while staying in an emergency foster location. However Fox’s energy level and size were too much for his caretaker to handle outside of the kennel and we were unable to learn much about him. Fox recently entered foster care with a new mom who is excited to report that Fox made great progress in a few short days. So far we have learned that Fox is likely around 1 year of age. He may have coonhound, or smooth collie genetics. He is not a barker or much of a sniffer. Weighing approximately 70 lbs, he is all legs and nose boops. His forever home would have a fenced yard and maybe another dog to play with, but he could also do well with frequent walks and park visits. He hopes for a home that is committed to continuing his obedience training and helping him find his confidence. Fox has had very little opportunity to live a normal dog life until now, and he is still learning to live within human boundaries. Fox shows some separation anxiety that has previously resulted in digging or other undesirable behavior. With time and consistency he is slowly improving. He is kennel trained and appreciates a chew toy, but does very well in an indoor kennel. Fox enjoys stretching his long legs by playing dog tag, learning to go for leash walks, and exploring his surroundings with his human close at hand. Fox is a little timid and prefers to have one main person to be his anchor, but is generally friendly and gets better with every opportunity. He would do well with a house with people who will play and snuggle him. He likes with playing with other dogs and does well with new dog introductions. However with his larger size and puppy energy, he may intimidate some dogs at first and may need guidance on proper K9 social etiquette. He has done well with meeting horses and cats, but at initially thinks everything is a friend to chase. ********************************************************* To meet this pet fill out our simple Meet & Greet Request on the Adopt Page.
