*** Pearl is in a foster home. ***Pearl #16322: white & brown/black tabby, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 2/1/20 Cats: only kitty Dogs: unknown Children: experienced adultsBACKGROUND: Pearl first came to The Rescue House after being rescued off the streets of Mexicali. Though she was adopted, a military deployment brought her back to us. Pearl is hoping her next home will be perfect with special people and everything will just click!PERSONALITY: Pearl is a kitty who asks for respect and consideration of her wishes. With that established, a beautiful and interactive friendship can form between you and her! Pearl is eager for attention and will come to you for pets, rubbing against your legs; what she asks is that you let her sniff your hand before you start petting down her back (and please avoid her tail and tummy) so that she isn’t surprised or caught off guard. While she doesn’t typically settle directly on your lap, Pearl likes to be by your side touching you. She does best with people who are good at reading cat body language: for instance, if she’s getting overstimulated or has had enough petting for now, Pearl’s tail will speed up and her ears will start to flatten, and she appreciates if you’ll let her chill until she shows she’s ready for more. Pearl isn’t super-playful but she LOVES when you put videos of birds and squirrels on the TV for her to watch (with keen focus!), and she’ll also bask on a sunny windowsill watching the critters go by. She makes regular use of her scratchers, enjoys catnip, and is overall a friendly and social kitty who is ready to be your buddy.COMPATIBILITY: Pearl prefers to be the only kitty queen of her home. We don’t know her thoughts on interacting with dogs though she hasn’t seemed upset about an unseen canine. A home with cat-savvy adults would suit her best; she shines when people are able to read her communication cues but can be impatient with those who can’t.Pearl is a priceless treasure for the person who will offer love and respect in equal measure.
