My story

THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because we are an international rescue through Taiwan. The dogs are likely still in Taiwan and you will have to meet your dog(s) and pick your dog(s) up from the airport. International airport for picking up dogs: 【SFO、SEA、LAX/ONT、JFK、IAH、ORD、YVR、YYZ、AMS】 ------------------------------------ In Taiwan, we see countless dogs and cats suffer due to abandonment, neglect, and abuse on a daily basis. We often feel hopeless because it just never ends with rescuing these poor souls. With limited resources (we are a volunteer based organization like many private rescue orgs in Taiwan, rely solely on our own personal funds/resources or private donations), lack of government support, and lack of education regarding caring for pets, many orgs have constant pressure to raise funds or find resources to keep their operations afloat or just simply the ability to feed their rescue animals. Lately, there is a very heartbreaking case of a local rescue organization that took in too many dogs but lacked the necessary people power and financial resources to keep their dogs in a safe and secured situation. They had over 100 dogs that were sick, starved and some even passed in squalid condition. Due to current investigation and other potential legal actions, we are not able to dive into too much detail. However, the animal protection agency in the city where the rescue org located stepped in and took all the dogs. However, all the public shelters in Taiwan are already overcrowded ( Taiwan abolished euthanasia a few years ago. As mentioned earlier, lack of support from government and lack of education, amongst other factors, resulted in overcrowding). Thus, the agency appealed to the public to help take in these dogs. FMD mixes are the hardest dogs in Taiwan to be adopted because they are considered by many as street dogs, and as attracted as purebred dogs such as corgis or poodles. Although people are trying to help, they also are limited in their own resources and space. Currently, there are many dogs needing to find foster families or forever homes. After discussing amongst all the volunteer staff members in our Life of Hope Foundation, we decided to step in and took in 4 dogs – Mango, Pear, Cherry, and Berry. These 4 girls are all so innocent, super friendly and sweet. Mango is ready for her new forever home as she was the healthiest and the one that did not need much medical rehabilitation. She grew from an emaciated pup (when she was rescued) to a healthy and active girl. Mango is very friendly, loves to get attention from people and she is not shy at all! She has an adventurous spirit but is not a troublemaker. She listens well to her caretaker and loves to be with people, dogs and cats. She truly has an amazing personality and deserves a family that will love and care for her forever. Mango gets along with dogs well. She might be a bit distant at first when meeting larger dogs before knowing it is safe for her to approach. Mango LOVES to eat and is very food motivated. However, she does not show any resource guarding behaviors towards people or dogs. Mango’s reaction to seeing cats for the first time was really adorable. She sniffed the kitty, unsure what was that she just sniffed. She was very gentle and friendly. She would just sit quietly by the bed and watching the cat playing, hanging out and eating. She did not show any fear, reluctance or warning, just pure love for the cat. Mango loves to go for walks and does very well with leashes. She also doesn’t get motion sickness riding car and seems to enjoy it. She is house trained and knows how to use pee pads although not a fan. However, she prefers to do her business outside if possible. For now, Mango is waiting patiently for her forever loving home. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out the application form on our website. If you want to reach out via Instagram, we are also happy to connect and provide you with more information. Please check out our IG account: lhf.rescue *****Note: please know that we are an international rescue and the dogs waiting for adoptions are all in Taiwan unless otherwise specified on their own adoption page. When your application is approved, you will need to arrange your own transportation to pick up your pup from the airport – such as SFO, LAX, ONT, JFK, IAH, YVR & YYZ. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to send our dogs to Seattle (SEA-TAC) and we are not sure when they will allow dogs to fly into Seattle at this point. If you are adopting from Washington State or Oregon, we are only fly the dogs to Vancouver BC or San Fransisco. International adoption is not a complicated process and we’ve done the process many times. Currently, we have many dogs that found forever homes in US and Canada, and a few of them in Europe (see our IG account). We would be happy to explain to you how the process works.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mango(Taiwan FMD mixed), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
