My story

Yvette! 15 Weeks | Husky/Shepherd mix | Tan/Black Coat | ALMOST House trained | Perfect Second Dog | High Energy | Loves Children | Working on Leash Manners | No Cat tested | Meet Yvette! Yvette was born into care as a member of our Betty White Litter, she is 1 of of only 3 girls of the 9 and often referred to as little Calvin because she reminds us so much of our alumni. Yvette is a very typical Shepherd who LOVES the outdoors. She's always ready to play with her fur-siblings or her humans and enjoys learning new things. She has mastered her crate training and sleeps all night without issue and rarely has accidents. She does still have the occasional accident when she sees a new friend and gets overly excited but as she matures so will her muscles! Ivy has had lots of exposure to other dogs and has loved everyone she has met. Sometimes she can be a little nervous to meet new friends and benefits greatly from slow introductions so she can be confident. On leashes greetings are best to help correct puppy biting or giving more than the wanted amount of attention to her new friends is a must for everyone's safety and comfort. Yvette has also been around children since a young age and has been great about respecting boundaries with her small friends. However Yvette does have sharp puppy teeth so being very mindful about interactions with children and other animals and any items of value is a must. Yvette is very easily redirected to toys when she does mouth however over mouthing can often be a sign of a tired puppy at which time we get a fun Kong toy or treats for taking a nap in her crate. Yvette eats all her meals in her crate and easily goes in when its meal time! She still does still spend lots of my time in her crate during the day as it can be exhausting growing and exploring all the time! My foster family has been careful to expose me to lots of novel smells, textures and noises to help my socialization. Ivy can still be a bit more slow to warm with new people and sounds but slow and steady positive exposure has done a world of good for her! Yvette's leash skills are a work in progress but her foster family has been working on engagement games to teach her loose leash walking! She has learned her name, to come, and sit and would love to meet a forever home that can continue to work and build her skills. Yvette has been in the car a few times and has done wonderfully in her crate as this is the safest place for a dog in the car. Yvette can still be vocal in her crate but a nice blanket overtop to help her settle. Yvette has also been fully vetted for her age so there's nothing to worry about other than her monthly flea/tick/parasite prevention for the next year! I know as I continue to grow I will require a lot of exercise, guidance and structure so please only adopt me if this will suit your family life once I grow into my full husky/ German shepherd self, so please do your research before applying for me! I am a sweet and outgoing little girl who would love to have a home that can continue to grow my confidence and boundaries with. I have loved absolutely everyone I have met so far and I can't wait to meet my new family and give them tons of smooches!!!!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Yvette, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
