My story

SEPTEMBER 2025 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes, and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. MARIE was found in a parking lot in Compton, California. The independent rescuer that found her saved her from being attacked by other animals. At the time, it was unsure if she was going to be returned to that colony and was ear-tipped. While in recovery, it was discovered that she is a very sweet girl. That's when we got the call. So MARIE has known the street life for a very short time. She has now been living a nice pampered life. As you can see in the pictures, she is loved and spoiled. MARIE loves to be petted, but she still gets a little nervous. Loves to cuddle with her cat friends. She does love to play!! While in foster care, she's made really good friends with CARMEL. They love to hang out and play very well together. They are not sisters, but they sure act like it. Our girl was adopted with ZANDER and lived with his human for over 2 years. To her dismay, her human died. And the back up humans, dumped them on her neighbor. So now MARIE is back at our rescue. She is now ready for his new home. From Compton to Comfort: MARIE ’s Second Act MARIE 's tale began with an act of heroism. A compassionate soul found her in a Compton parking lot, saving her from a dangerous situation. Though she was ear-tipped with the intention of returning her to the streets, her innate sweetness during her recovery quickly revealed that this was no ordinary street cat. Since coming into our care, MARIE has happily retired from her short-lived life of crime and taken up a new one of leisure. As you can see, the spoiling has commenced!. Now, MARIE is a girl who appreciates the finer things: a warm lap, a soft bed, and a good friend. She may start off a little shy, and a bit nervous about new situations, but her heart is open and ready for love. She's a cuddler, especially with her feline companions, and a true play enthusiast. Her time in foster care has proven she's excellent with other cats, having developed an especially close friendship with Carmel. Unfortunately, fate dealt MARIE another cruel blow when the human who adopted her with ZANDER passed away, and she was left to fend for herself again after being abandoned on a neighbor. But MARIE 's spirit is not so easily extinguished. This beautiful Abyssinian/Tabby-Tiger mix has already survived the streets and heartbreak. Now, she's ready for her happily ever after. MARIE is a testament to the fact that even after the toughest journeys, there is always room for a second act—a new, loving home where she can finally put her past behind her and enjoy the comfortable, affectionate life she deserves. MARIE is ABYSSINIAN / TABBY-TIGER MIX. She is about 4 year 1 month old. She is good with cats and non- reactive to dogs. She has never been around young children. MARIE is currently at our rescue at Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Volunteers are usually at PetSmart between 9 am to 1 pm for cleaning ONLY. The cats currently at PETSMART you are allowed to go visit. A good time to come visit is between 5 pm - 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and Sunday 3 pm - 6 pm. But steps 1-6 of the ADOPTION PROCESS need to be done before we do the OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS. It is easier to do the meet and greets at the locations listed below. +++++ PLEASE NOTE: We only have cats in Murrieta and City of Industry +++++ PETSMART in City of Industry, California off Colima Road in Murrieta, California off Madison Avenue in Hemet, California off Florida Avenue in Palm Desert, California off Monterey Avenue The crazy rescue mama will drive kitties to their new home, meet & greets, etc...once the phone interview and home check have been done. Gas donations always appreciated! ************* Please no calls to the rescue. No one is available to take calls. ************ If the CAT/KITTEN is still listed (meaning here or other websites) they are still available. It does not mean they don't have other pending applications or meet and greets. Please note: Just because you fill out an application and are approved does not obligate you to adopt the cat/kitten. If he or she is not a fit...we have plenty of other cats / kittens available for adoption. We are a SMALL rescue based out of Hemet, California. We are all volunteers that run the rescue. If we haven't reached out....be patient. MARIE is ALREADY fully vetted. The adoption fee of $200 covers: Spay FVRCP shots RABIES shot FELV/FIV test (Negative/Negative) Drontal Dewormer Stronghold Flea Control Microchip We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens. So, we do not do DISCOUNTS. If for some unfortunate reason you missed out on the kitten/cat you emailed about...I'm sure that we could help you with another rescue baby! Just ask! Have a GREAT DAY!!!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt MARIE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
