My story

WE CANNOT REPLY TO INQUIRIES SENT DIRECTLY THROUGH ADOPT-A-PET. PLEASE FOLLOW THE EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO APPLY. MEET PENELOPE the PEKINGESE PUPPY!!! North New Jersey Penelope is a 7-MONTH-OLD female 10 lb. cream and white parti Pekingese. This little girl is super sweet and playful and LOVES being with her people and other pups. Penelope did not have much socialization prior to arriving and she was a serious flight risk. She is learning the ropes from the other pups in her foster home and is clearly feeling more secure and learning her manners. This girl has a TON of personality and a TON of energy and loves to run around the yard with the other pups. She spent her entire life with her siblings and feels more secure with other pups her size. Penelope knows how to use a crate but does not require one. She has also been learning basic commands and etiquette. This should be continued so she can master her manners. She is very smart and learns very fast. Consistency will go a long way with her. Penelope is UTD, spayed, HW negative, dewormed, chipped, and housebroken and also knows how to use potty pads. She also loves car rides and is very curious in general. Given her energy level and propensity for “flight” a fenced in yard is a requirement. Her ideal home will be with another similar sized pup(s) with similar energy level so they can play. Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized. NOTE, Pekes that are well cared for can easily live for 15-20 years so please consider if a 15+ year commitment is right for you and your lifestyle. Also, 15+ years from now she will have medical needs that are typically very expensive. Her ideal new owner will be able to handle her care, both financially and physically, for her lifetime. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE EMAIL THE FOLLOWING PRELIMINARY DETAILS to: adopt@gingerbreaddogs.org - Your full name - Full address - Phone number - Type home (house, condo, apt, etc.) - Details of any staircases in your home - Fenced-in yard details if any - Ages of everyone living in household - Work schedule of adults in household - Name, breed, and age of current dogs in home - If no current dogs, then your previous dogs (name, breed, age, what happened to them) - Details of Pekingese experience - How soon are you looking to adopt? - When are you able to conduct a meet & greet in north NJ? - Veterinary practice references including phone number (GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO SPEAK WITH US BEFORE SENDING THIS EMAIL) PLEASE no phone calls and PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with me I will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. PENELOPE DETAILS - 7-month-old female Pekingese puppy 10 lb. - Sweet, fun and PLAYFUL - LOVES to be with her people and other pups - Fenced in yard REQUIRED - Other small pup(s) in the home required - Housebroken for outside plus can use potty pads - UTD, HW negative, dewormed, chipped, spayed - Breed experience preferred and will be prioritized - Adoption fee is $850 We consider out of area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. WE CANNOT REPLY TO INQUIRIES SENT DIRECTLY THROUGH ADOPT-A-PET. PLEASE FOLLOW THE EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE TO APPLY.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Penelope, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
