My story

Meet Olaf — Your Tiny, Quirky Shadow Olaf is a 5-year-old chocolate Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger heart—once you earn his trust. This little guy has spent most of his life in rescue, and while he’s been adopted a few times, he’s still searching for that just right forever home—one that truly sees and understands him. Olaf is the definition of a “cute little weirdo” in the best way. He’s full of charm, spunk, and just the right amount of sass. He absolutely loves going on walks (he’d stroll outside all day if you let him!) and is very food motivated, which makes training both fun and productive. He’s crate trained and finds comfort in having his own space—a quiet, cozy area where he can decompress and reset at his own pace. He’s a sensitive soul who can be reactive, especially through barriers like gates or crates, and he’s not a fan of sudden or metallic noises. Olaf takes daily anxiety medication (10mg Fluoxetine nightly, just $5.40 every 2 months) to help him feel secure and settled in his environment. It’s an easy, effective routine that supports his emotional well-being. Olaf also has a collapsed trachea, which doesn’t require special medical treatment, as long as managed correctly and seen regularly by a vet. He does best walking on a harness rather than a collar or slip lead. Weight management & avoiding airway irritants like smoke or allergens are crucial for managing this condition. Many dogs with tracheal collapse can live comfortably for years with proper management, though they may experience occasional coughing or exercise intolerance.
He thrives in a calm, consistent home with someone who understands canine body language and respects his need for space. He can be territorial about his face and isn’t one for forced cuddles—but when he chooses affection, it’s the best kind. Think of him like a cat in a dog’s body: independent, quirky, and deeply loyal in his own unique way. 🤎 Olaf would do best in a home: • Without children • With no pets, or possibly with balanced small dogs or confident cats • With someone experienced in anxious or fear-reactive dogs • With a person committed to providing structure, practicing crate management, and setting him up for success • That understands and respects his boundaries and is willing to go at his pace If you’re not looking for a clingy lap dog but rather a tiny, quirky sidekick who will follow you from room to room and be content just existing by your side, Olaf might be your perfect match. Olaf is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Olaf is $350. If you are interested in adopting Olaf, please fill out an adoption application http://www.furgetusnotrescue.org/application.html .

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Olaf, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
