My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Mary is best described as a perfectly proportioned petite Pyrenees doll (a "Pocket Pyr"). She may be a mix, but looking at her all you see is this mini Pyrenees with all the big dog characteristics including the “Pyr-Paw,” white eyelashes, and a beautiful fan tail (she's not expected to get much bigger than her current weight, just 40 lbs). Mary enjoys being active and will need an adopter who can accommodate her love of playing, running and zoomies! She is a very smart girl and her foster Mom thinks her personality and playfulness could allow her to thrive learning an agility obstacle course, as Mary needs to be challenged, and is a fast learner. She came to rescue with an injury to one of her hind legs, but that hasn’t slowed her down one bit! In addition to playing, Miss Mary is also very happy to snuggle, and will never turn down a belly rub or good ear scratch! Her favorite snacks are strawberry pop tarts, peanut butter and peanut butter flavored dog biscuits. Mary does have guarding issues with food and treats, but that’s simply resolved with separate feedings and controlled treat rewards. She gets along with other dogs and cats, but we are recommending older, respectful kids only who can understand her resource guarding. All in all, Mary will thrive with someone who is patient and is willing to continue working with a few of her quirks (and realizing she’ll be their shadow!) Mary has so much love to give and although this petite girl has had a rough start in life, her heart is truly the size of a big breed dog! Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our Adoption Application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. June 4, 2025, 12:50 pm
