Apply to adopt Romeo at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Romeo Summary: Romeo is a 55-60 pound black border collie/ Pyrenees mix. He is all black with soft medium-long fluffy fur and floppy ears. He has a white stripe down his chest/ tummy. He is guessed to be around 2 years old, but he is still a puppy, so he may be a little younger than 2 years old. He is praise and treat motivated, and knows Sit and Shake. He loves playing with other dogs and spending time with his humans. Romeo is a dreamboat! He is a stunningly handsome boy who has been getting used to his foster hugging him and petting him all the time. We hope he gets adopted by a family that will cherish him. He is a sweetie! Romeo's ideal home would have another active dog for him to play with. He is a young dog, and loves to play with people and other dogs. He is SO cute. He is like a little black bear cub. ____________________________________________ Are you an introvert needing someone who can get you out of your shell? Do you need someone who will be your best friend? Someone who will cuddle with you, help you get out of the house, and have epic road trips together? I really believe I could be all the above and more for you! My name is Romeo and I am a 2-year-old, 60lb male Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix. I am someone who LOVES people, other dogs, and life. I want to be a part of everything. So, when I ended up in the shelter it sucked! I wanted to run free, I wanted to cuddle up to people, and I wanted to be in a home. I was worried that I would never get out when this rescue came for me. I ended up in an amazing foster home, and am now ready to find my forever family! ____________________________________________ The thing about adopting is you should not do it unless you are absolutely ready. That means you can commit to me for the rest of my life. I am going to be so loyal to my family, and I ask the same in return! To help make the decision process easier, I had my foster family fill out this questionnaire for me! -How does your foster act when meeting new people? Romeo gets SO excited to meet new people. He will jump up and try to give you a hug. His fosters are working on this with him, but you've been warned! ;) -Has your foster been to any public settings? Romeo has been on walks around the neighborhood. He LOVES to sniff and explore. -Does your foster like going on walks? YES. Romeo loves to go for walks. He pulls a little bit but is much better behaved on a leash walk than our own two personal dogs. -Do you think your foster would enjoy going on hikes? Yes, Romeo would enjoy going for long walks and hikes on a leash. He is squirrel motivated, so his family will want to keep him on a leash so he doesn't run off and get lost. He is a fast runner. -Is your foster leash trained? Yes, Romeo will pull on the leash when he gets excited, but it's not like when our bossy border collie drags us down the street. He is very well behaved for a young, active pup. -How does your foster ride in the car? Romeo LOVES the car. His new family will want to bring a harness and dog seat belt for him. He will try to sit in my lap and drive if he's not buckled in his seat. -Does your foster jump on people? YES. Romeo is getting better about not jumping, but he still jumps up when he gets excited. -Describe your foster dog's energy level? Romeo is an active and playful young dog. His favorite games to play with the other dogs are Chase Chase, Wrestle, Tug of War, and Keep Away. -Is your foster a big chewer? No, Romeo has not shown any destructive chewing. We have several other dogs for him to play with, so he has not been left by himself very much. -Does your foster like to play fetch? Yes, Romeo will play fetch. He loves tennis balls. He found four tennis balls in the backyard the first few days in his foster home. We had no idea there were that many balls just hanging out in the yard until Romeo found them. -Does your foster like to play in the water? Yes, we think Romeo would enjoy the water. He LOVED playing in the snow. We didn't get any cute pictures because he was zooming around the yard, all excited! -Does your foster play with Toys? YES. Romeo loves to run around the yard carrying plush, squeaky animal toys. He will get the other dogs to play Tug of War with him, too. He loves to play with toys. -Does your foster have food aggression? Yes. Romeo should be fed separately from other dogs in the house. We don't know much about his past history, but he does get protective of his dish if other dogs try to eat his dog food. He will also try to eat from the other dogs' dishes if not separated during meal times. -Does your foster resource guard? Romeo will resource guard his dog food dish if another dog tries to eat his food. We have been feeding all of our dogs separately, and things have gone smoothly. -Do you think your foster would be okay with free-roam of the house even if you are away? Romeo's family will want to puppy-proof and keep an eye on him until he's settled into his family's routine. He is a young dog and can get curious if given the opportunity. -Is your foster potty trained? Yes, Romeo is potty trained, and sleeps through the night. -Is your foster kennel trained? Yes, Romeo eats his meals in a kennel. He will walk right into his crate to eat a meal. He is being fostered with another foster dog and it helps for them to eat meals separately from each other. -Where does your foster stay when no one is home? Romeo stays in the front half of the house during the day, and the bossy border collie stays in the back half of the house. -Where does your foster sleep at night? Romeo sleeps in the front half of the house. He would prefer to sleep in the bedroom with his fosters, but our bossy border collie would throw a fit. He sleeps through the night. -Would your foster dog do good in an apartment? No, Romeo would not do well in an apartment. -Is your foster a big barker? Romeo will bark, but nothing compared to our own two personal dogs. Romeo will bark at squirrels in the yard, or bark to get the other dogs to play with him. He has not been particularly "barky" in his foster home. -Is your foster good with other dogs? Yes. -How does your foster act around other dogs? Romeo LOVES playing with other dogs. He is a giant puppy and has the most fun chasing and wrestling in the yard with the other dogs. -Does your foster need another dog in his new home? Yes, Romeo would prefer to have another dog to play with in his future home. He LOVES playing chase chase, wrestle, and tug of war with the other dogs in his foster home. -Is your foster good with cats? Unknown. He has not been fostered around cats, but we think Romeo would chase a cat. -Is your foster good with kids? Romeo would do well with older, dog savvy kids. He is very much a big goofy puppy, so he would probably knock over small children. -Does your foster jump fences? No, Romeo has not jumped a fence or dug, but he has not been left outside by himself. He loves to play in the yard with the other dogs in his foster home. He is a giant fluffy puppy and has even been able to get our bossy border collie mix to play with him. ____________________________________________________________________ Now that you know everything there is to know about me, it is time to talk logistics! -How can someone adopt me? The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not. -Where are you being fostered? I am being fostered in Tulsa, OK -Would I need to come to pick you up? Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! š -Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma? Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state! -How much is your adoption fee? My adoption fee is $250. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Romeo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
