My story

Hi, I’m Russet! I’m a smart, snuggly guy who’s come a long way, and I’m still learning every day!I’ve been thriving in my foster home—working on leash walking, crate training, and learning tons of new commands like sit, down, paw, and place. I’m super food-motivated, which makes training a fun game (especially when treats are involved!).I’ll admit, I can be a little unsure around new people at first. Sometimes I bark to say “Hey! Who’s that?”—but it’s not because I’m mean, I just need a moment to get comfortable. If you give me space and a treat or two, I warm up fast. Once I know you’re cool, I’m all about cuddles and affection. I love snuggling under the covers at bedtime and being close to my people. I’m a total lovebug when I trust you.In public, I tend to ignore strangers and focus on my walk—which I really enjoy! I’m still working on staying calm around other dogs. I get pretty reactive when I see them, so I do best as your one and only pup for now. But my foster family is helping me learn how to stay focused and chill.I’m also learning that not every noise means danger (I used to bark at everything!), and I’ve really mellowed out in my new, quieter foster home. I’m doing awesome with potty training and crate time, and I’ve been such a good boy inside the house.I might not be perfect just yet, but I’m sweet, loyal, and so ready to find a person who sees how hard I’m trying. If you’re patient, consistent, and love a pup who snuggles like a pro and learns like a champ—I just might be your perfect match.Let’s be best friends?My adoption fee of $50 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Adoptions are by appointment Tuesday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday are walk in from 10-5. Please fill out the online application, and you will be contacted if you are approved and are a good fit for one of our adoptable pets.
