My story

Weston is a 6 month old male German Shepherd mix. He weighs 56 lbs. From his foster family - He is such a goofy goober personality. Very easy puppy, but does need his new person to be a cheerleader for him at times. He can be a little underconfident, but does look to his people for encouragement. He loves people! Weston went to the Take-a-Bite event in Glens Falls and did fantastic. He took in all the sights and sounds, but stayed close to his people. He met lots of new people and loved the pets. He was a little wary of strollers and young kids. Best with kids 7+ since he can be a little nervous and underconfident at times. He is house trained and is doing pretty well with crate training. We are feeding in the crate and he spends about an hour or more in there each day. Sometimes he whines a bit but it is mostly when you get back home and he is eager to get out! Good with dogs after a proper introduction. Doesn't appreciate dogs approaching very closely right up to him without a proper introduction. They scare him. Good with cats. Knows sit, down with lures, and is learning to wait for his food and by doors. Good on the leash and respects correction. Overall a very easy big puppy! Not much of a jumper or mouthy. Just occasionally when he gets hyper. Medium energy but I have three other dogs that keep him occupied. If he was by himself, he could have a lot more energy. He is VERY regimented in his routine and will let us know if we are off of it especially when it comes to his feeding times. His adopter needs to be aware it may take him sometime to adjust to a new home because he has his system here. I would suggest structured crate/alone time in his schedule if he is the only dog in a future household. He loves his toys. He is still learning how to play with people and toys. He just doesn't understand why you are trying to take it from him, but he is starting to get fetch and engage in tug with my other dogs. Loves his food and is a smart boy. Needs an experienced handler who understands Shepherds and similar breeds' needs. Weston learned commands very quickly. He will be a great partner for training and serious fun! Weston does have an umbilical hernia that does not bother him. *SPAY IT FORWARD $50 ADDED TO ADOPTION FEE TO HELP THE SPAY AND NEUTER CAUSE THROUGH OUR RESCUE IN FLORIDA* Want to Adopt? 1) Fill out an application on theluckypuppy.org The donation fees are minimum $475 for puppies up to 6 months, minimum $400 for dogs 7 months to 6 years and minimum $ 300 for 7+ years/Special Needs. 2) Once your application is in, our adoption coordinator will contact you and complete a vet check and home visit (possibly electronic). 3) Once approved, please schedule a meet and greet to see the dogs.
