My story

UPDATE 11/3: Nugget has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. His only symptom right now is a crusty nose which doesn’t bother him at all. The vet has no way to know whether it will get worse over time or stay the same, but it hasn’t changed in several weeks. He’s still a happy old man loving his quiet lifestyle. His main activity is finding the best bed for a nap :-) FOSTER UPDATE 9/17: Nugget is doing very well in his foster home! He doesn’t have accidents in the house anymore. He tells me when he needs to go out. He is so quiet (rarely barks) and chill. Just a perfect dog :-) Nugget is a handsome senior (13 yrs of age?) Pomeranian or Pom mix. He’s very petite and only weighs 7 lbs. He was a stray so we don’t have a history for him but at some point his right rear leg was amputated. He gets around really well but can’t do stairs so will need someone to carry him. He is very gentle and sweet but isn’t really a cuddly pup. He will follow you around but hasn’t wanted to get on the couch or sleep in a bed. He does NOT like a crate so we have an X pen for him at night. He has done really well with house training but he is older with a small bladder so he needs to go out fairly often. He also wears a belly band with no problem. Right now he lives happily with dogs and cats in his foster home. He has cataracts so he doesn’t see well but isn’t completely blind. Once he knows where everything is he does well. We have him scheduled for a dental next month and he will need several teeth pulled. He has a mild 2/6 heart murmur but doesn’t need medication. It will just need to be monitored. His favorite thing other than mealtime is finding the soft squishy beds and napping. He isn’t a barker usually but sometimes does bark randomly. It’s not super loud though. His ideal home would be fairly quiet. No small children as he is frail and likes to be underfoot. He would be fine with cats or other small dogs as long as they aren’t too rambunctious :-) PS - Nugget has some hair loss on his back which has been like that for a while, but the vet isn’t concerned. We also had to shave most of his hair because it was terribly matted, but it will grow back nice and floofy! If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". Beginning June 30th, 2017, MAS Rescue will charge a $10 non refundable administrative application processing fee. 100% of this fee will be for our rescued animals in need. To be clear: 1. No dog application will be processed until the $10 fee is paid via PayPal link on our website: http://www.masrescue.org/helpus.html. 2. The $10 is non refundable. Should you be approved and adopt an animal through MAS Rescue, you will receive a $10 credit to your adoption fee. 3. Paying the application fee is in no way a guarantee that you will be approved to adopt an animal through MAS Rescue. All of the same standards in processing applications still apply. See our policies and procedures: http://www.masrescue.org/pnp.html 4. By submitting an application and paying the $10 application fee, you agree to the terms listed above. If you do not adopt through MAS Rescue or your application is rejected, this serves as your notice of the application fee policy. The Adoption Fee is $300.00. For senior dogs (small dogs 9 and over and medium and large dogs 6 and over), adoption fee is $250. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This dog has been examined by our vet, spayed or neutered (if not previously done), vaccinations updated, heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. We do not guarantee housebreaking. Consistency and patience are key! Dogs benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of dogs coming from MAS Rescue! Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Please be sure you have the TIME to have a dog. Please be aware that it is the opinion of this rescue group, in conjunction with dog behaviorists, that a young puppy benefits greatly with proper socialization. We will only place puppies in homes where they have the opportunity to be with someone all day, travel to work, or have special arrangements, such as Puppy Day Care, Dog Walker, etc. Remember adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nugget, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
