My story

Meet Blaze! This heartthrob is rocking one gorgeous blue eye, eye-catching markings, and a personality as sweet as his “sit” (which he’ll happily show off for a treat). Blaze is full of charm, and just the right amount of goofy. This sweet pup strikes the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. Whether it’s exploring a trail or curling up on the couch for a nap afterward, Blaze is up for it. His former family reported that he interacted well with a 3 year old, and lived with a cat.Blaze enjoyed a Dog’s Day Out adventure to Patapsco State Park, and he made the most of every moment. Curious and alert, he was fascinated by all the new smells and sounds of nature, eagerly taking in his surroundings. He hiked at a steady, manageable pace—with a few breaks to rest and cool off in the summer heat. Blaze was all in for the car ride, hopping in eagerly and even trying to jump into another car when it was time to return—clearly not ready for the fun to end! He is working on his leash skills - he can be a little bouncy when he’s excited, but with some consistency (and snacks), he’ll be golden. He’s curious about the world, and yes, he sees that squirrel, but he’s easily redirected and happy to keep strutting by your side. The volunteer noted that he is “down for anything”.Handsome Blaze has enjoyed a few fun and cozy slumber party weekends with volunteers, filled with walks, playtime with toys, and plenty of snuggles. While the volunteer worked from home, Blaze settled comfortably on the couch, happy to keep them company. During his stay, Blaze began learning house rules and showed he’s completely housebroken, going to the door when he needed to go outside. He was quiet in the house (even with a noisy resident dog in the next room that wanted to meet him!) He was only left alone for short periods of time, and he was quiet and polite, and didn’t chew anything. He had a blast running around and exploring in the yard, and even showed off his smarts practicing his recall.Blaze absolutely adored belly rubs and being pet, often insisting on affection by forcing his head under your arm or stretching out on your lap for belly rubs. Blaze has a big old head and isn’t afraid to use it when he’s ready to snuggle! Adorably he’ll get his head under your arm to wedge his way closest to you he wants some love. At night, he loved to snuggle up close, always wanting to be touching you as he slept. He loved everyone he met, including some teenaged chi

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Blaze, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
