Woof, woof! The name's Spike. Aren't I just one handsome sixty-pound guy? I think I am a mix of German Shepherd and American Blue Heeler, so my pawfect new handler would have done some research or be experienced with these breeds and their needs. Unfortunately, my previous owner had to relocate, so I've found myself with my HALO friends while I await my new family. I am still working on my confidence and learning to accept my situation, however every day I am making great progress. Since I do currently still need further training, everyone in my new home should be six-years or older and respectful of my space. I would like to meet any current dogs prior to going home with them, just to make sure we get off on the right paw. I have never been around cats, but I do enjoy socializing with other friendly canines here at HALO under the supervision of my HALO pals. I have been told that I ride well in a car and am fully crate and house-trained. It may take me some time to become accustom to the rules of my home, but as a pretty smart guy, I think I'll get them down in no time at all. I know how to ‘sit,' ‘shake (with both paws!) and even lay down. I hope to have a fenced yard where I can stretch my legs and play a fun came of fetch with a ball; I love my tennis balls, and am great at sharing and catch & release. I'd also enjoy doing obedience training, agility work, hikes and trick training with my new partner. Think we'd be a great fit, together? Please email your questionnaire at the top of this page here - https://www.halorescue.org/dogs and then call my friends to schedule to meet me.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Spike, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
