My story

Ellie and Ollie are special pups looking for a home together. These puppies are litter mates who were born in December 2020 and didn`t get the best start in life. Ellie (black/brindle) is the smaller but bossier of the two - she weighs about 12 lbs. Ollie (tan) is the bigger and less confident of the two, and weighs about 18 lbs. Based on their build, we are guessing they are chihuahua/doxie mixes. These pups came to our rescue after the shelter noticed they had some neurological abnormalities. Ellie runs in circles when she gets really excited or stressed. Ollie often tilts his head to look at things. Both have odd wide gaits when they run and tend to bob their heads when eating or drinking. Once we got them into our foster home, we discovered they were both deaf. They have been examined by a neurologist who agreed that yes, they are deaf and a little neurologically different, but this doesn`t really affect their quality of life. Both have also been examined by an eye specialist. They have some minor vision issues including poor depth perception, but otherwise function fine. Because Ellie and Ollie are special needs pups and best buddies, they will only be adopted to a home together. They love people and are very friendly, but because they can startle easily, they would be best in a home with older children. While they love other dogs, they are unable to read signals (lip curls, growling, etc) so would be best in a home without other dogs or one with a very gentle and tolerant dog. They ignore the foster`s cats. Ellie and Ollie absolutely love to play in water and swim (wearing a life jacket). They are truly happy, sweet natured puppies who don`t realize they are different. They are ready to be loved by a forever family!!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ollie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
