My story

Tortoise A224906 Tortoise is a 3 year old neutered male who came into the shelter on 2/23/21 as a stray. Handling 3/4: https://youtu.be/6FWyIwolStE Handling video: https://youtu.be/BWWgp9TjaYU Leash Test: https://youtu.be/zPmZvjiIq14 Tortoise & Harriet were quite a pair when they arrived at the shelter. They would only move in tandem - him to trying to hump her and Harriet only when she needed to run away from Tortoise. Not a classic true love story, but they do seem to like each other. Tortoise was ready to leave his kennel when we approached and seems like the more outgoing one. He’s a big boy and can be strong on the leash when he wants to. Tortoise spent most of his time owner searching and looking for his escape. He came when called but wasn’t interested in treats or toys right away. He also isn’t shy about sharing his feelings. When he wanted to leave, he let us know. He wasn’t comfortable with handling and didn’t engage much other than barking when he was done with us. Tortoise calmed down a little when we walked past Harriet’s kennel. He’s understandably stressed being in the shelter environment surrounded by strange people.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tortoise, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
