My story

Much like my namesake, the years under my belt may be more than you'd expect, but I've got a lotta life left in my years. As they say in the movie, "It's not the years, honey – it's the mileage." I've got a low odometer, so don't be afraid to open your heart to me. My mama had a battle with that awful disease, dementia. She went to heaven, and I was left here. Alone and a little afraid. Thing is, my mama raised me to be a sweet boy, and I surely am. My foster pawrents say I ooze sweetness like a fresh peach oozes juice, and yeah, I think that's true. In the house where am now, there is a little baby and i'm totally fine with him. He drops food and I'm here for it! I'm friendly, well-adjusted, happy, and not the most active sort. I'd do best in a home where it's not super busy, where I'm not expected to act half my age. I'm excellent company, and quite a looker, if I do say so myself. These people here at DREAM are still getting to know me, so they'll update my listing accordingly, if I don't get adopted first! Did I mention that I have sparkly clean teefers???? More photos to come. If you are interested in adopting Indiana Bones, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Indiana Bones's adoption fee is $300. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. All of our dogs will go to their new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Indiana Bones, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
