My story

Adoptable: Juno – Resilient & Ready for Forever   Juno’s story is one of heartbreak and hope. She originally joined our rescue in December 2020 when she was just a puppy and was quickly adopted. We thought she had her forever home. But in summer 2025, at 5 years old, her owner emailed us, saying a new job meant she “no longer had time” for Juno. Before we could even line up a foster, or find the best fit for Juno, Juno was dropped off at a shelter—discarded like she was nothing more than an item to give away.   We immediately picked her up, and since then, Juno has reminded us of one very important truth: training works.   &#226&#156&#168 What we’ve learned about Juno:     •    She has done amazing in training—thriving with structure and consistency.     •    Despite her previous owner’s claims, she has had zero issues with crate training.     •    She has been successfully muzzle trained—this helps her feel safe when meeting new people, and with continued practice, she’s growing more confident every day.     •    On leash, she can still be a little nervous, but her progress has been incredible.     •    She would do best as the only pet in the home (she was an only dog for 5 years and prefers it that way).     •    We do not recommend small children, but she has so much love to give to the right adult family.     •    She needs an experienced dog owner who can continue her training journey—someone patient, committed, and ready to love her unconditionally.     •    Fun fact: Every time you come home, Juno will happily greet you with a toy in her mouth—her way of saying, “I’m so glad you’re here!”   Juno is resilient, loving, and so deserving of a forever family who won’t give up on her. She’s ready to be someone’s best friend—this time, forever.   Apply to adopt at: http://www.keytolionsheart.org --- Poor little Juno was found all alone as a stray in South Carolina. The shelter contacted her owner, who stated they would not be coming to get Juno. Well, their loss and our gain! Juno is such a sweet, happy-go-lucky puppy with an exuberant personality and a zest for life. After being confined to a crate all day and all night at the overcrowded shelter, she is SO EXCITED to have her freedom back.  Juno is around 6 months old and 25 pounds, so we don't anticipate she will get very big. She is so spunky and has tons of puppy energy. She would make the perfect adventure partner to an active person and would love to try running, hiking, swimming, biking, and all things active!  To adopt Juno, please apply at www.keytolionsheart.org/apply! Please note, we cannot guarantee the breed or adult size of any of our dogs.September 6, 2025, 11:41 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Juno, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
