My story

**Adoption Pending** Charleston is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 4/3/20. Don’t let the fact that she comes in a small package fool you, Charleston, like her siblings Hershey, Cadbury, Mars, and Almond Joy, has an engaging, larger-than-life personality and so much love she is brimming with enthusiasm to share. With an adorability-meter off the charts (just look into those warmly, captivating wide-eyes), this fawning kitten will reveal her endearing and delightfully sweet charm to one-and-all in her completely well-intentioned, but mischievous, spirited play and uninhibited invitations for one-on-one time and attention from people. Looking for approval from a gentle touch and soft-spoken words, Charleston revels in being close to people, she enjoys being held and snuggling in peoples’ arms, and she will choose loving attention and interaction with her people over just about any other activity. That’s not to say she doesn’t enjoy plenty of playtime and adventurous exploration on her own and with other kittens, too – she certainly does, and vigorous, sometimes ruff-n-tumble play sessions will need to be a box-checked on her daily activity agenda for sure. Cheerful and upbeat, undemanding and easy-to-please, extremely affectionate and pretty happy-go-lucky, mischievous, lively, adventurous, curious, and simply adoring and adorable – Charleston, above all else, is a people cat-kitten looking to light up the lives of her new family members when they welcome her into her forever home where she will live the rest of her days as a very much-loved and pampered pet and companion. Charleston, along with littermates Hershey, Mars, Cadbury, and Almond Joy: came to Monroe SPCA as orphans needing critical care - all 5 kittens, barely more than infants, found outdoors. None of them able to eat on their own, they required syringe and bottle feedings early on. The five kitten sisters spent their first weeks with Monroe SPCA in medical foster being treated for URIs, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm. Now a happy, healthy feline, Charleston is looking for her forever home with a family who can give her the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Charleston can be adopted individually, we recommend a paired-adoption with her play buddy and littermate, Hershey. A pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament would also be an excellent choice and good fit. Charleston is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle. She likes and gets along well with other compatible cats, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs and respectful children of any age given proper introductions and a period of acclimation to any new environment. Although unguarded and extremely social and friendly with all, Charleston will need a little bit of adjustment time to warm-up and adjust to her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Charleston currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charleston - Adoption Pending, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
