My story

Hi! My name is Flex and I am a BIG 10-month-old gorgeous white pup and eat, play, swim, sleep, repeat is kinda my thing! I ended up at DLRR after a divorce but I was very well-loved and cared for in my previous home. While I was an only dog in my previous home, I currently have a 5-year-old four- legged foster sister that I LOVE to play with. I also live with two little human siblings that are 1 year old and 2 years old and my foster parents say I have an excellent temperament with the kiddos. Despite my mature looks and large size at 80 lbs., I am still a big puppy with puppy energy and am looking for a home with parents that will continue to work with me on my manners and teach me how to be my best self. I do know some commands such as "sit", "down", and "come". I am working on "wait" and "easy" since I do get a little (or a lot) excited when food is involved. My foster momma also said I need to learn some leash manners, guess I get a little excited on walks too! I don't counter surf, I'm housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I love Nyla bones, loving on my humans, giving wet kisses, playing with other dogs, and swimming. Now, why am I a "foster-to-adopt pup" you ask? Well, the doctor told me I have dysplasia in my front left elbow and need arthroscopic surgery. The kind and generous people at DLRR are paying for my surgery that is scheduled in Gilbert on October 22nd so my adoption cannot be finalized until after my surgery and recovery. I would, however, love to move into my forever home and recover with them! While I am in recovery, I will need two weeks of confinement rest (I am crate trained!) and then increasing moderate activity the following four weeks but during this time, I should not be playing with other dogs or getting overly excited. I also need a forever home that will be dedicated to helping me keep my joint health intact as I get older- regular swims, walks, and maintaining a healthy weight will be hugely beneficial. If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.dlrraz.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab and follow us on Instagram (DLRR of Arizona) and Twitter (@DLRR). Thanks!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Flex, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
