My story

Donkey is a 5-year-old, 80-lb mixed-breed boy with kind eyes who’s just waiting to be loved. He’s so friendly and always happy to see you, but beneath his wagging tail is a pup who’s feeling a little lonely.Donkey was adopted from AHF as a cute little ball-of-fur puppy. Covid was upon us, and the parents were working from home and the kids were young and eager to help with a cute little puppy. Now that the kids are older and have activities and the parents are no longer working from home, the family no longer has the time to allow Donkey to thrive and be his best self. We are not here to judge, but to help, as we never turn our backs on any animals that we adopt out from our rescue. Donkey has known what it’s like to be overlooked, but he hasn’t let that dim his sweet spirit. He enjoys companionship and being with his people. He lives happily with a cat, is fine with kids, and is good with other dogs after a proper introduction. He would thrive with a fenced in yard, but it`s not necessary as long as he has someone to walk him and provide the enrichment that all dogs need--someone who will make him a priority in their lives. Don`t they all deserve this, fence or no fence?!?This tender-hearted boy would do best in a home where he can finally feel seen and loved.
