My story

Beautiful Hudson is looking for a special family. He is a gentle, gentle soul who lived his early life in a cage, with no human interaction and no-one to show him love. Over the past year and a half in rescue, he’s been trying his hardest to trust people and allow them to love him. He’s made so much progress, but has a long ways to go and may never be what you’d call a “normal” dog. Hudson has a lot of fears, but his foster family has allowed him to feel safe and begin to enjoy some things in life. He LOVES his bed. He loves his bed so much that when foster family bought him a new bed, he only wanted his old bed (so it gets washed a lot). He loves cheese, and happily takes his daily medicine wrapped in cheese (but waits until nobody is looking before he eats it). He enjoys watching TV in the family room with his foster family and bolts to the door to greet mom when she comes home. He loves running around the backyard and comes in on his own, but on his own time. Because he loves to spend time outside and running in the yard, he must have a securely fenced yard in his new home. Hudson is great with other dogs big and small, and is very submissive to them. He is a little intimidated by the very high energy dogs, and feels closest to the calmer ones. He misses the family’s other foster dog who just found his forever home. He will absolutely need another dog in his forever family, a kind, gentle and social dog. He loved the cats in his first foster home and would do well in a home with cats. We think he would love older, gentle children, but would be intimidated by the activity and fast movements of toddlers and younger kids. Hudson is scared to ride in the car. His foster parents carry him to the car and then into the vet. The vet staff are all very friendly people and he relaxes and lets them do his check ups, never growling or attempting to bite. He won’t walk on a leash yet, but in time and with some work, we expect he will get this down. Hudson is 4 years old and about 45#. He is house trained and crate trained. He is neutered, up to date on immunizations, microchipped and on monthly Heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. Hudson is, indeed, looking for a very special family. One that is kind, gentle, patient and encouraging. There will be challenges, but with love, patience, baby steps forward, and some steps backward, he will thrive and live his best life. If you think you are the perfect family for Hudson, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hudson, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
