My story

Hi everyone. My name is Desi and I am a two year old Dalmatian boy. I am a big guy, 70 pounds of love on four big feet. I love to play wrestle games, chase, and tug with my foster brother but when small dogs come to visit, I can be gentle. I was a lonely boy when my foster mom met me. I didn’t like people at all and had never been in a house before. I was pretty scared and it took me a while to decide it was safe to go potty outside because I thought I’d be locked outside again. Now I have it all figured out. I know I can always come back in with my people! I use a dog door so I can go out when I need to. My foster mom keeps saying “take it outside” when Levi and I get a little crazy playing in the house. I am also a pro about running into my crate for a cookie. I have learned a lot. I still have stuff I want to learn. I definitely want to go to doggie school with my mom or dad so I can learn all sorts of cool stuff. Now I know to sit any time FM is going to give me cookies. I love my grandlittle children and give kisses to them. It is handy because their faces are right at lick height. I get along with every dog I have met, so far. We have eight or nine dogs over for swimming parties and I have a blast sniffing and chasing. I have never met a cat so I don’t know how I’d do but I think, if I were carefully introduced to a calm cat, I’d probably do fine. My favorite naughty game is keep away and my FM has been working hard on that with me (I am not working nearly as hard). I am supposed to drop what I have stolen and get a cookie for it. I am really good with shoes but I admit I have killed a pillow or two (more room for me on the couch) and am not allowed on dog beds until I ‘grow a brain’ as my FM says. I will tell you, my brain is fine. I never had toys in my old life and I love, love, love toys. What are pillows? Big, fluffy toys. Exactly! I rest my case. Oh, I need lots of chew type toys as well as fluffy ones. I still need to do a lot of chewing. So far, no furniture has met my teeth but that is because there are tons of chew toys here. I want to be a good boy. I am allowed on the couch and bed in this home and my most favoritist thing in the whole day to do is cuddle with my FM. When we are on the couch, I put my head in her lap so she can pet me. Sometimes I need to bump her hand to remind her of her job. And I stand next to her when she is working with my head in her lap, should she need some pet therapy. At night, though, I sleep on a dog bed right near her. That’s okay, we have a “before it’s time to get up snuggle party” and I get to spoon her on the bed. I am very clever at getting there fast and first. And I get lots of attention during the day. So, because I am big, and my FM says sometimes I am a bull in a china shop, whatever that means, I should probably not go to a forever family with itsybitty little kids or fragile old people. I love my Grandlittles, who are 5, 6, 7, and 9 and have never knocked them over. But tiny or old, who knows? If I sound like someone you would like to meet, give me a call or email me. I live in Albuquerque now. Oh, by the way, FM says to tell you that I have all my vaccinations, am HW negative, am neutered, and in fine health. I have gained six pounds and am stunning, if I do say so myself. I will be a loyal and loving boy. You can call my FM @ 505-857-0012 or cnspotz101@q.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Desi, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
