My story

Archibald (Archie) is a 10-year-old distinguished blonde pittie mix who came to us through the Chicago Animal Control as a stray with a cut under his eye. He had skin issues and was underweight. He's really blossomed into a nice, mellow dog since being with us. He is a sweet, easy-going, mushy senior with low-energy, but he loves, loves, loves going outside, being outside, and basically anything outside. After each walk, he has a fun burst of energy and wants you to chase him around the house. Three laps is usually his max before he goes back to his favorite spot to sleep it off. He’s very treat motivated and, despite his age, is quick to learn. His foster mom plays hide-and-seek with treats that he loves and they both have a blast! Since he is insecure around other dogs, Archie would be best as the only dog. He's gotten very good at walking by dogs with little to no reaction but there are times when he feels threatened by a dog's energy and will bark at them. He does well even walking around outside the dog park. He expresses interest and will engage from the other side of the fence so it’s likely that he just feels safer with a barrier between him and the other dogs. We have not tested him around cats but can arrange to do so if you’re interested. He hasn't been around children consistently but pretty much gives them a sniff and moves on. However, we think given his age that young children might be a little much for this mellow senior. Archie is a simple dog. He just wants a good meal, an occasional pup cup during a car ride, consistent walks or time outside, good belly rubs, and a soft place to nap and bork in his dreams as he remembers his younger days. He can be humorously naughty if he wants your attention so if you don’t keep an eye on him, you might look up and see him with a shoe in his mouth daring you to come get it. If you're looking for a low key, goofy companion who just wants to hang out, Archie is your guy. Fill out a survey today at www.playersforpits.com/adoptionsurvey!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Archibald, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
