My story

Meet Gretel! This 3lb nugget came to the shelter with a horrible leg injury that had been left untreated for some time. She would drag the leg behind her and the other leg turned inward compensating for balance. It was obvious her pain was intense and the decision was made to amputate her back leg. Gretel today frolicks and runs in the yard. She’s a different dog! She is great with kids, but she’s not a buddy for another dog. She is ok when left alone. She won’t share a dog bed, she doesn’t like to share food, and if someone challenges her, she will nip the other dog to get her way. She would do best as a “center of your life” social media star purse dog. Since she can’t get out the dog door, she has challenges holding her potty and you have to take her out consistently like a puppy. She is great when on a routine. She loves to snuggle under the blanket and sleeps in dog beds. She’s special in so many ways and it’s going to take the perfect adopter and match to get her home! Her best friend is a three year old that wakes up and feeds her and cuddles under the blanket with her,
