My story

“KENZI” thought that if she were a reindeer that maybe when Santa came, he would include her with his other reindeer that were pulling his sleigh. But, being exposed to many new people (especially children) and travel all over the world just wasn’t for her. So now she is willing to learn how to become a Standard Poodle! Kenzi is a blue Standard Poodle who is ONLY 21 INCHES tall (measuring from the floor to her shoulders) and weighing 36 pounds. She was born November 4, 2016 and comes to us from a southern Minnesota breeder who is no longer breeding Poodles. While this very pretty girl is quiet (I’ve still not heard her bark) she is considered “SPECIAL NEEDS” and NEEDS A SPECIAL HOME. We have been working with Kenzi and can see that she loves and really wants to be with people but is scared and very shy. Our experiences and knowledge of these reserved, special needs Standard Poodles is that in a quiet, loving, calm and easy going home, they WILL become the amazing and wonderful Poodle that they were meant to be. She has learned that when we grab her leash, it means a ride in our car where she loves to look out the window and watch the big world go by. She’s quickly learned that the big blue cushion in front of our TV is a great place to watch everyone as everyone watches her! We’ve gone to various events and stores where Kenzi was exposed to men and women who just loved to give this pretty girl lots of attention… and she just loved the attention too! While I am home, Kenzi has free run of our home. She has been just perfect and no accidents (house trained). After being with us for only I week, she learned to come when I called her. She doesn’t care for any treats, so I’m just giving her hugs, love and attention. Kenzi is very comfortable and enjoys being with all of our other Poodles because she knows that they will not dominate or “bully” her. It is also good for her to see and learn from them, but she is not looking for another dog companion. PLEASE: *Because we do home visits before and occasionally after the adoption, we do NOT adopt to homes outside a 1 days drive (500 miles) from our central Minnesota location. *NO aggressive or assertive dogs. Kenzi would be fine with an older, gentle, or any easy going dog. *NO young children; they really scare her. *A fenced yard will be required as Kenzi has been a kennel dog all her life. Kenzi enjoys going for walks but loves to run and greatly enjoys our large fenced back yard. *STANDARD POODLE EXPERIENCE will be given priority. Again, this girl is special needs but is smart and quickly learning; after all she IS A POODLE! To the right family, Kenzi’s adoption fee is $700.00, which includes the $48.00 Minnesota state sales tax. She is up to date on all of her shots, she has been Heartworm / Lymes / Ehrlich / Anaplas tested negative, wormed, Home Again micro-chipped and registered. Also, her teeth have been cleaned, she has been spayed and Vet checked “healthy”. Her adoption fee also includes a new leash, collar, her large wire crate, a large bag of quality dog food, treats, toys, a folding toy box, a new blanket, a big, soft, doggie bed that fits in her crate, along with lots of good information to help your adoption move forward on the right paw! For more information, pictures and Kenzi's ADOPTION APPLICATION, please visit our web site: www.picketspoodles.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt KENZI, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
