My story

Grim is simply a great, great dog. DLRR rescued this 3 year old, 60 lb. boy from the Pinal County pound where he had been left by his owners because they were moving. We think someone made a mistake on his name and it should have been "Grin," because that is what we do when we are with this dog! He has the best personality--sweet, loving, joyful and exuberant- plus he's cute and so much fun -we liked him instantly when we first met him and we like him even more now. We nicknamed him "Mr. Wigglebutt" because he wags his tail so vigorously that the whole back end of his body moves from side to side! He loves attention, but he isn't pushy about asking for it. He listens really well, knows some commands, wants to please so badly and he is incredibly smart. We think he might have some border collie mixed in with the Lab because his tail is fluffy and he's very, very agile. This dog will practically do a back flip to catch a thrown toy or a ball! (He LOVES to play fetch)! Grim loves his stuffed animals and often carries one around in his mouth--it's adorable. He takes treats gently, is a dream in the car, (either lying on the back seat or sitting up and looking out the window!), has not had a single accident in the house, and uses the dog door like a champ. He's ready for any and all activities, but also enjoys calmly hanging out in the house near his humans. His previous family said he is good with kids, but not with cats. Training would definitely help Grim with his leash skills since he pulls a lot, but he has gotten much better on his daily walks since moving in with us. He also has jogged with his foster mom and was pretty great at that. Grim spends the night in his crate and he is also crated when we leave the house (but he wouldn't need to be if he's an only dog), but all you have to do is open the door to it and point and he goes right in! He sleeps all night without a peep and he rarely barks. He does not seem to have any interest in interacting with our resident lab, so he is probably not going to be good at playing with another dog. He hasn't liked it when our pet Lab has gotten too close to his food or toys, but he is definitely ok with people being near him and his food and toys, so he would be ok as an only dog or with another dog in the right household. Grim will be a wonderful, fun companion for a lucky adopter. If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.DLRRphoenix.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab and follow us on Instagram (DLRR of Arizona) and Twitter (@DLRR). Thanks!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Grim, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
