My story

Hello my name is savanna I am a 11(DOB 6.12.19) week old Chihuahua. I love to be held and curl up on your neck while you hold me. I am also a fan of cuddling under the blankets when I’m sleepy. I am a whopping 3 1/2 pounds but I have no fear in my home, when I leave home I get a little more nervous but am learning to enjoy the big world people are the best thing about it. I love to romp and play and chew on everything so I need all eyes on me cause I’m a sneaky girl. When I came into the rescue my foster mom noticed something a little off about my legs so I had to go to the doctor and get xrays done. After many doctors looking at them they finally figured out what happened, I have an angular limb deformity in my front legs which means one of my bones kept growing while the other stopped which causes awkward bending of my front legs, this is not an uncommon condition but shows up in specific breeds more often than others. It can also be a result from a past situation before I got rescued. I am completely Mobil and I don’t let it hold me back but the doctor said it could cause some issues such as arthritis in my shoulders in the future. The doctor says they have seen worse and since I’m not painful and a growing puppy they don’t want to do any surgery. I will require a special home who understands that even though I am a bouncy playful girl now, my legs could potentially need lots of attention in the future. I am hoping they don’t cause any issues but there is always a risk with this diagnosis. If you think you can be that special home for me send your application in. Savannah will be spayed, up to date on puppy vaccines, microchipped, on a heart worm preventative, and had a fecal. Savannah’s adoption fee is $350.00. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport, WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. For events calendar and adoption application please go to our website at aaprescue.org. A young dog is a 10-15 year commitment. Many dogs are surrendered to us because their owners are no longer able to care for them due to their health. We try to place young dogs and puppies in active, busy families. We encourage seniors to look at age appropriate dogs.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Savannah, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
