My story

Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Male Shiba InuHatch is a 4 year old male Shiba Inu. He is approx 21 lbs and fairly high energy.  He enjoys going for car rides, loves going for walks, and enjoys playing with toys. He walks well on a leash and gets along with older children and all people. He is microchipped, current on vaccines and neutered. He has been in two homes already, the last one for 6 days. They were unable to integrate him with the other dogs in the home. He also has had a few marking incidents in the home. While we believe these issues could be related to him being intact, they will need some reinforcement potty training and behavior modification towards other dogs. He would be a great addition to any family with older children and we would sure love for him to go to a home that hikes, runs, bikes - a home with a yard and perhaps a doggy door. Hatch is a cute Shiba and enjoys being the spoiled 'only child'. If you do have other animals, we don't think this would be the ideal for Hatch. Those familiar with this breed and able to spend time with him, train him, and do various fun activities with him are ideal.  As most active adult dogs, he would enjoy long walks, hikes, runs and other activities to stimulate him physically and mentally.   In the home, he is very quiet, and crate trained as well.  However, he does love running around the house, jumping up on the furniture and does try to pee on the corners of the furniture.  (After several weeks post-neuter, this hasn't changed much and we want potential adopters to know about this as this will be an on-going training opportunity to address!  For training tips, see https://www.canineprofessionals.com/housebreaking-adult-dogs) The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If interested in adopting, please contact saveshibas@gmail.com. If you can provide this dog a loving forever home, please complete an application: https://savingshibasinc.org/pages/adopt Adoption Fee $395.00 **All Saving Shibas Inc dogs must be adopted by families willing to have their pets be a part of their family and must be allowed inside—especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a “tie-out” or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced yard.**All Saving Shibas Inc dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations prior to adoption. **Available pets maybe visited via appointment with foster.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hatch, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
