Pluto is part of Ugly Mutts International Project. He did originally live with a family until he was surrendered because the children "got bored with him". He lived mainly on their balcony. He is adorable and affectionate, funny and playful. He is good with other dogs and cats and will make an excellent pet for a family who will continue with his training. Pluto is approximately one and a half years old and currently weighs 22 lbs. Here is what Pluto's foster family had to say about him: Pluto is by far one of the most affectionate dogs I have fostered by far and he is also quite the talker:) He is quite the character for a pup who had such a rough start. Pluto is in very good health with a beautiful coat. He is pretty high energy and would be best suited with someone who is active...he love his walks and getting his harness on can be difficult as he gets very excited! Pluto is very puppy like. Pluto has been well socialized. He loves people of all ages including children. He can become overwhelmed with a lot of dogs coming up to him but one on one he is great and loves to play with other dogs. He is said to be good with cats as well. He really loves playing with my little Beagle and at times they can get quite rough. He would do well with another young, friendly and playful dog that could keep up with him. I have seen no aggression except sometimes when he has a bone and another dog approaches him he will growl. Pluto is very affectionate, and playful. He would do well in a family situation with kids who would enjoy tossing a ball for him or running around in the backyard. He would be fine with other pets in the home but he will want to endlessly play with another dog. Really he is a well socialized puppy with some training but needs a family that will continue working with him to make him a capable and respected member of the family. He loves people and is motivated by affection. Pluto will need a family who will continue working with his training. Overall he is pretty good in the home and doesn't get into things he shouldn't. Still, when I go out I will either crate him or I leave him in the basement and there have been no issues. He doesn't like going in the crate and he will cry when you first leave but all is quiet upon my return. He does bark when he hears something so although he was previously living on a balcony, I think he might be too noisy for apartment living. And, he would really love having a backyard to race around in! He also loves going for walks and playing with other dogs but his most favourite thing is being with his people. When I first brought Pluto home he did mark around the house and did not seem to know about going outside to do his business. He may have originally been paper trained as he was kept inside all the time. He has been doing great however and is now almost completely house trained as long as you get him out regularly. His new family would need to keep this up until he has learned to signal you that he needs to go out. Pluto does love to go for walks..he does better with a body harness... he walks pretty good with it as long as he's alone if I have the other dog with me he pulls a lot. He would be a good candidate for obedience training. He is so loving and definitely wants to do good for his people so I think he would excel and it would be further socialization for him around other dogs. He has not tried to escape and does come when he is called, although if he sees a bird he will try to chase it. He does very well in a car! He is maybe the only place where he is really calm. All in all Pluto is a wonderful dog..he is very beautiful with a beautiful temperament. He does not like to be left alone and would do best with someone home more often than not. A family with a nice sized house and a backyard to play in would be great for him. A family who would be committed to helping Pluto be the best he can be! If you think you have time to make the commitment to this adorable, affectionate and amusing boy, please visit our main website at http://www.uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an adoption application.
