My story

Gamila is absolutely gorgeous, a unique red color and slender svelt body. She is a young Baladi dog, estimated to have been born in September 2018. Needless to say, she had to be super-smart to escape torture and death on the cruel streets of Cairo Egypt. She and her friend Annie both got out Egypt alive and joined BAARK’s Rescue & Adoption Program in February. Gamila is a young, active dog, weighing in at about 30 lbs. A Baladi is essentially a mixed breed dog, in Egypt. DNA testing suggests her to be a mix of Basenji, Caanite Dog, and Anitolian Shepherd. Gamila spends most of her time with other dogs, and enjoys their company. Obedience training is a must. While we are not requiring a fenced yard, Gamila must have plenty of play time and exercise, perhaps at a doggy day care. Given her past, Gamila can be wary of strangers, but is making progress, learning to trust people. She will require a family able to initially give her space, and be patient as she learns to become a family member. Gamila is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm tested and on year-round heartworm preventative. If you are interested in adding Gamila to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gamila, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
