My story

IDGSR WELCOMES TRUMAN INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!! PLEASE NOTE: If the dog you are interested in is online, he/she is still available and it is not necessary to email to inquire. Truman is an approximately 1 year old German Shepherd male. He was rescued by a good Samaritan from the middle of a busy road. Truman was emaciated, weak and his blood pressure was very low. We believe Truman wouldn't have made it much longer if not for this great act of kindness. Today, Truman is doing much better. He is a very loving boy who wants to be with his people whether helping with the chores or just hanging out. Truman enjoys a good belly rub. He is a quick learner and has learned sit, down, shake his left paw and right paw. We are still using treats to reinforce the down. Truman has a few favorite toys and is learning to fetch. He enjoys spending time in the backyard exploring, playing or laying under a tree. Truman walks well on a leash and enjoys the walks. He might even enjoy long walks on a beach. He is friendly with people and older teens but no young children please as he gets a little rough trying to play. Truman is good with other larger dogs and he is around small dogs, but not good with all. He is still learning about cats, so it’s best to be a cat free home. Truman rides well in a car. If you are interested in adopting Truman, please apply by CLICKING ON THE ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. PLEASE READ. Regarding the application processing fee: IDGSR requires that all applicants submit a $20 non-refundable application processing fee. Please note that submitting an application and fee does not guarantee that you will be approved or guarantee the adoption of any specific dog, since that dog may have other applications being considered. Each dog's adoption fee varies depending on the age of the dog. $300 for any dog 1 year and younger (PUPPY) $250 for any dog 1-6 years (YOUNG & ADULT) $200 for any dog 7 years (ADULT SENIOR) All our adoptable dogs are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing, monthly preventative, and have been spayed or neutered. Everyone must submit an application before an appointment is made to meet the dogs. Dogs are introduced to prospective adopters BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. All dogs are fostered in TN unless stated otherwise. ***Not able to adopt? Consider FOSTERING one of our four-legged friends*** Donations to help us care for all the dogs in our program are also greatly appreciated and may be made from our main petfinder page: http://IDGSR.petfinder.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Truman, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
