My story

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING Marcel seeks a LOCAL, ADULT only, cat free indoor home with a securely fenced back yard. VERIFIABLE previous experience with dogs with severe behavioral issues is an absolute must. The Good Marcel is a 8 year old brindle French Bulldog rescued from local shelter after his stray hold was over. He is a larger chubby Frenchie at around 42 lbs. Marcel is an extremely affectionate dog. He loves to play with toys. He loves to snuggle in blankets and wrap himself up like a burrito. He loves FOOD! He is super smart! He is great with other dogs as long as he is the boss dog, He walks well on the leash and likes rides in the car. He is a furniture dog! The Bad Marcel does not do well with cats and should be in a cat free home. As is often typical with bulldogs, Marcel may be prone to skin issues so a quality diet and regular flea prevention is a must. The Ugly We do not know what happened in Marcel’s past, but it did kind of mess him up. Marcel is severely cage aggressive. He is not to be crated and if boarding is needed, a very savvy kennel will be required. Marcel also has some major boundary issues and when pushed is quite reactive. If pushed, he will likely bite. When he first came to foster care, he was terrified of going outside we suspect fearful of not being let back in and trying to make him go outside was not and option as he would react. At first we could trick him into going out about once a day. Since then he now goes out with the other dogs and will occasionally even ask to go but still he does not like to go out at night. Because of this we consider him about 84% housetrained and may still have an accident. While getting him to go outside has been where we have seen this most, he does react to other things as well. As, we said you absolutely cannot make Marcel do anything but if you can make him think it is his idea – all is good. The Rest Marcel seeks an adult only, cat free indoor home with a securely fenced back yard. A dog door may address some of his issues though he may also refuse to even consider one. Previous experience with dogs with behavioral issues is a must. Marcel is safe and relatively well adjusted in his foster home but we would love to see if there is a more perfect fit for him and since we do not want to set him up to fail we will not settle for less than perfect! Marcel is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention and chipped. LOCAL INQUIRIES ONLY

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marcel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
