Please note, we are a Texas based rescue that transports our pups once they are adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes, so much is known about their temperament, training level and personality. We know adopting a dog sight unseen can be daunting, so we are happy to share additional videos, photos and even let you Facetime with the pup. We are primarily an equine rescue, but do assist with a small number of dogs annually. We are happy to provide references from previous adopters if needed. Thank you for wanting to adopt! "Starry starry night Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on a summer's day" Oh, yeah, sing it Don McLean!! Vincent Van Gogh's famous painting is eulogized in this popular 80's song by Don McClean!! Starry, starry night perfectly describes my beautiful coat which shows similar swirls, textures, and color palette to the famous painting. Hence, my namesake!! I am a hybrid of two amazing working dog breeds; Australian Cattle Dog and a guarding breed that results in double dew claws on my back legs. But, as a hybrid, I don't run on petrol and electric, I run on milk bones, hot dogs, and snuggles!! With this hairytage of brainiac working dawgs, just imagine the smarts in my noggin!! My luxurious "Starry Night" coat has the merle effect associated with my Heeler Hariytage, but I am taller and have double dew claws on my back feet (Livestock Guardian breeding!) I will probably top out at a lean 50 pounds when at my ideal weight. Foster Mum calls me an absolute "DOLL"!! I don't want to embarrass my nice Foster Mum, but I am a walking breathing canine, not a DOLL!! I am a loyal, confident and trustworthy four legged family dog that loves being inside and outside with his family. I am equally happy lounging on the couch, going on action adventure hikes, or leisurely strolls to the coffee house. I am very respectful of my hooman and walk gently on the leash without pulling too much. I walk best in a no pull harness. I am eager to please my hooman and strive not to cause any discomfort, frustration, or extra work. I am crate trained and will only bark when crated if I have to "go". I am playful and athletic and do well with other social dogs. Foster mum even introduced me to her most fearful foster and I wagged my tail, licked his nose and went about my business. My favorite thing is belly rubs...wait, no, my favorite thing has to be going on walks...or maybe it's treat time? Can I possibly have three favorite things? I will have to ask Foster mum about that!! Let me also add, I love to give kissess!! I could probably make a good living working at a kissing booth...and love every minute of it! Foster mum calls me a "quick study" (Hoomans and their crazy sayings...Sheesh!!) Sometimes, it is hard to remember which is my actual name!! As previously mentioned, I am eager to please learn very quickly. I REALLY enjoy being a part of the family and being included in activities. At 45 pounds, I am the perfect size to be able to tag along with you anywhere you go, and my striking good looks are an artist's dream :) Another chorus of Don McLean's ditty describes my life with my original owners who had to give me up; (please excuse my literary license with the lyrics) "For they could not love me But still my love was true And when no hope was left inside"............ I found YOU!! Please fill out the online application and adopt me today!!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Van Gogh, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
