My story

This adorable girl is extremely shy. She was rescued from Jefferson County Animal Control. At the time she was taken into rescue she was thought to be unadoptable. But she has made great strides, particularly in the last 6 months. Petal is a domestic short hair tabby, thought to be around 5-6 years old. She was likely picked up as a stray, so we have no idea why she is so shy. Petal has been in the same foster home for probably two years. When she first came to us she was so scared that she would hide in this cubby hole in the desk and would only come out to potty and drink. Most of the time we had to put her food dish in the cubby with her. We had to reach in there to pet her, too. Eventually she started coming out of her hiding spot and accepting some loving, but when she got stressed she would high-tail it back there. Now, many months later she actually leaves that room and is brave enough to go into the rest of the house with the other cats and the dog, although the dog still scares her. She still gets her meals in the other room because she is so timid the other cats chase her away from her food. And she still startles easily and takes off to hide under furniture. This beautiful, sensitive, loving kitty needs a nice quiet home. A retired couple or an older single person would be wonderful for her, especially if she were the only animal. I think she might like to be a lap cat because she absolutely loves to get her head rubbed and her back scratched. But she is going to need a very patient family to give her lots of time to adjust. It will be worth it. She is so, so sweet!! Petal’s adoption fee is $75. That includes testing for feline leukemia and FIV (both negative), spaying, microchipping, and she is up-to-date on shots. If you would like to meet this lovely little girl please contact me to arrange a meeting. Foster Mom Denise314.322.5607jdbaisch@att.netWe only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area.
