Remi ACCT-A-178980 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Remi must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Sunday, November 17th at 10 A.M. Should Remi's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Remi is a small, timid lady who was found as a stray with another dog on October 22nd. The other dog luckily went to a rescue partner, but unfortunately Remi is still in need of her happily ever after. She is in urgent need of placement with a rescue partner or adopter and due to her nervous nature, she would thrive best in an adult-only home where she can adjust at her own pace. Remi is a thoughtful and observant dog who is independent and enjoys exploring at her own speed. While she can be nervous around new people, tasty treats are a sure way to gain her trust. Once she warms up to you, she proves to be a loyal friend who seeks our comfort and reassurance. Even though Remi came in with another dog, she has shown mixed reactions around other dogs at the shelter and requires very slow introductions. Remi's interactions with people are quiet and reserved, often preferring to do her own thing while remaining tolerant of gentle handling. She's not interested in toys or play at this time, but she does enjoy occasional petting once she feels safe. With a bit of time and space, Remi can build trust and become a loving, loyal companion, but she will need an experienced adopter who can offer her a peaceful home and help her adjust at her own pace. She was PASSED out on her bed when I went to leash her. She woke up when someone else came into the room- I opened the kennel door and leashed her while laying down. She hopped right up and out of her kennel. She's great on leash! She's a small timid lady- She took pets after some time although she seemed hesitant at first. She is very hesitant with new people and looked to me When new people came over. Takes treats very gently! Per volunteer 10/30: Remi is an independent and curious pup who prefers to explore at her own pace. When outside, she is happy to wanderer around with her human pal, occasionally sharing some eye contact to say she's enjoying herself! Remi can sometimes be a little aloof and that demeanor suggests she's a bit of a reserved soul, but her calm tolerance and interest in exploration show she's a thoughtful and observant companion who just needs a bit of time and space to settle in comfortably. Per staff 10/24: Remi had some mixed feelings during her dog meet today. For her fence greeting she was very stiff, and postured with a high flagging tail at the other dog. She was unreactive otherwise, so we proceeded to a face meet. Remi tolerated a few second of sniffs, but then gave a low growl. She then went up tot eh other dog's butt to sniff, but when the other dog turned around to sniff her back she gave hard eyes and a short growl again. When we tried to separate them the other dog got in her face one more time and she open mouth growled at them, but we were able to keep them apart. While Remi never escalated past growls, she needs VERY slow intros to other dogs. Per staff 10/23: KNOWN HISTORY: Came in with Drama KENNEL PRESENTATION: Remi is currently in a crate due to space. When approaching Remi was in the back of the crate with semi hard eyes. When she saw the leash she stood up with some wags and allowed the handler to easily place the leash over her head and exited without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the yard Remi walked around with a neutral body, high stiff tail, and neutral eyes. She sniffed around and explored, ignoring us and doing her own thing. When trying to interact with her she allowed handling and was tolerant, but did not exactly seem comfortable and would lip lick and give some semi hard stares at times. She was pretty aloof towards us in the yard and would give semi hard stares at times, but never escalated at all, remained tolerant. PLAY No interest TOYS: No interest Per staff 10/23: Remi was pretty nervous when I approached her kennel, low-growling. But she really likes cheese, and came to the front of her kennel to take it nicely from my hand, before getting a little nervous again, and lip-licking. Per finder 10/22: friendly, scared, timid, food motivated Medical Notes: 10/30 URI: This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold".
