Chex

My story

A volunteer writes:Tiny Chex was dropped at a police precinct...Another mystery kitty....She was so underweight and found to have a sky high sugar level...From day one, Chex has been such a sweetheart, purring and head bunting her way to people's heart...She is such a pretty and petite gal who although very welcoming and super friendly with her visitors, sometimes appears so lost. Her life is a roller coaster and she is, let's not forget, a senior although she looks like a kitten. Too much to process for a little cat! With the good care of the veterinary team, Chex's sugar is now normal without the help of medication and with only a low carbohydrate diet. Her appetite is good and her energy is up. She is still observed closely in the medical room but it is time for us to think of a caring and loving home for this lovely little lady. Ask about Chex when you visit us at the Manhattan Care Center. What my friends at ACC say about me:Chex was near the front appearing calm, came forward and allowed petting, arching her back then briefly retreated while observing the assessor then was coaxed forward using the sound of the treat bag and this time really enjoyed petting, leaning in for cheek rubs, purring and arching her back. When she was picked up she vocalized fairly the first time, the second time less so and allowed to be held before being set back down. Once set down she came forward for more petting.Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It does not appear that the medical condition is affecting her behavior. Chex interacts with the assessor, appreciates & solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
