What my friends at ACC say about me:I have lived with cats.Need some biscuits for your breakfast? I'm an expert kneader!I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.Licorice was on top of the bed looking down, curious with a fairly relaxed face and sniffed and ate treats. He licked squeeze up and stretched to get it when it was lowered in an attempt to coax him down which he wouldn't do at first, but he allowed petting but then with more squeeze up and verbal coaxing in time he came down and stood while eating, arching his back and raising his rear with a high tail while being pet. After the treats were gone he gave gentle head bunts and leaned in slightly for cheek rubs. He was calm when picked up and held and when set back down he climbed on top of the bed to observe the assessor.Licorice interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in inappropriate elimination. A volunteer writes: My favorite thing about Licorice is how he stands with his little paws mid knead. Whether he's leaning into my hand, headbutting my arm, or looking out his window, he somehow has his paws halfway through a knead. I think Licorice knows it's not what you say, it's what you do, which is why he's determined to show his happiness through actions (i.e., snuggles). He has a whole roster of adorable moves. I'm particularly fond of his super affectionate sideways walk and lean combo, though his cheerfully insistent kneading is my number one. After a few moments of cuddling, I thought I'd offer a toy. Licorice adorably indulged me by patiently watching and even went so far as to puff his cheeks out a bit. It seemed entirely for my benefit because Licorice ignored the toy and smushed himself into my arm as soon as he had the opportunity. Licorice came to us from a home with many other cats, and while adjusting to shelter life has come pretty naturally to him, he's hoping to find a forever family soon.
