Cheese ACCT-A-173326 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space for incoming dogs, and length of stay. Cheese must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by Wednesday, September 25th at 10 A.M. Should Cheese's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Cheese- Like his namesake, Cheese will make anything in life better! Add him to any occasion and you'll turn the most boring of dishes into an exciting masterpiece. Cheese is a 6 year old male who came to ACCT as a stray with another dog named Cottage on 9/4 and was described as friendly by his finder. Don't be fooled by his age, Cheese is a hyper and excited boy who would do well with active owners! He has shown some puppy antics at the shelter and would love owners who could show him the ropes. Luckily, he is very food motivated so it makes training a breeze! This might sound 'cheesy' but this is 'nacho' average pup! Just in 'queso' you were wondering, Cheese is dog friendly, housebroken, active and an all around 'gouda' boy. You 'feta' believe it! With his 'sharp' looks and adorable smile he's sure to 'melt' your hearts. Due to Cheese's length of stay he is timestamped and looking for a loving home to grow 'mold' in. Come on down to ACCT to meet this 'grate' boy! On 9/9 Cheese came down with an upper respiratory infection and was started on Doxycycline. PCR test came back positive for Herpesvirus Type 1, Mycoplasma & Canine Adenovirus Type 2 on 9/10. Per volunteer on 9/8: Cheese had a dog meet with a dog named Mila. Mila wasn't interested in Cheese as much as he was with her, but she was very cordial. Per Volunteer 9/6/24: Very excited for leashing, was jumping up a lot so I did a small little loop with the leash to make sure his paws didn't get caught. Pretty good on leash with minimal pulling. We took him out to a play yard- Took pets from both of us! He loved pets and head scratches. He was a little overstimulated after some time and was very jumpy on both handlers. I upgraded him to 'blue' due to jumping and some mouthing. I would describe it as puppy antics! It wasn't aggressive at all, just very excited and overstimulated sometimes. He jumped up and tried to kiss our faces really excitedly but remains loose and wiggly. SUPER treat motivated! He loves treats and did the whole A frame for treats. Showed us nicely that he knows sit. Took pets all over! No issues going back inside kennel. On 9/6 during an exam Cheese was noted to be bright, alert, responsive, very food motivated, friendly, and tolerated ear medication and PCR. Intermittent head shaking, right pinna pointed and raised due to excessive head shaking and scratching. Cheese had mild serous nasal discharge visible from nares; persistent sniffling. his ears had moderate scaling, lichenification, mild hyperpigmentation with mild yellow ceruminous debris AD>>>AS. Appearance of ears (right ear primarily) indicate likely chronic otitis externa. Early onset of a URI is suspected as seen by serous nasal discharge. Per Staff 9/5/24: Cheese was napping when approaching in kennel. The handler called to him and he came running to the front wagging and had loose body language. He was doing excited toe taps and did try to push out a bit, but remained fairly easy to leash. No issues returning. Pulls moderately on the leash and is housebroken. Cheese was friendly in the yard and social with both of us! He was higher energy than Cottage while outside and was jumpy and pranced around the yard. He still had good manners overall though and was easy to handle. He was also very food motivated similar to Cottage and took them nicely with an open palm and was fairly patient. He allowed all handling. He also showed knowledge of sit and paw! Engaged in play but no interest in toys. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313
