** $65 in pledges to any rescue that pulls ** Slushy ACCT-A-171306 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical & behavior concerns. Slushy must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by Tuesday, September 10th at 10 A.M. Should Slushy's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Slushy is a 4-year-old male who came to ACCT as a stray on 8/10 after being left behind at another facility. Since arriving at ACCT, he has developed an upper respiratory infection with lingual ulceration that has not improved, even with medication. During check-in, he scratched a staff member while attempting to escape. Although he has shown himself to be shy and fearful, he enjoys a good head scratch with gentle talk and a slow approach. Given the lack of improvement in his URI signs and Slushy's behavioral concerns, he is timestamped and in need of a loving home that will provide him with the time to blossom and the care necessary to recover from his cold. On 9/6, staff noted: I met Slushy in his kennel today, and he was nervous. When I opened the kennel door, he considered leaving and got up to go to the other side of the kennel, but I was very slow and spoke softly, so he settled back down and leaned towards my hand to sniff it. I took a moment to let him settle more before attempting to pet him. I gently petted him on the head, and he seemed to enjoy the soft head scratches. He has not shown any aggression; he's just a nervous baby who needs time to trust you. On 9/5 during exam Slushy was noted to have worsening URI signs were noted during the walk-through, including bilateral chemosis and mucoid ocular discharge, as well as bilateral crusted mucoid nasal discharge. There is a large ulceration on the dorsal tip of the tongue. Slushy has maintained a stable weight since intake but is mildly dehydrated based on skin turgor. He is very stressed and fearful but allowed all handling without issue. Slushy is FELV/FIV negative! On 9/2 staff noted- Didn't open the kennel due to notes about being a runner and needing their rabies (due to being on rabies observation for scratching during check in we are unable to give rabies vaccines until after the 10 day quarantine. As of this time Slushy is fully up to date on vaccinations). Tracked toy, eventually ate the treats I threw in. Dilated pupils and crouched at the back of the kennel. Based on TTA notes (hissing and swatting), would recommend a long decompression and no small children. On 8/31 Slushy came down with an upper respiratory infection noted to have nasal and ocular discharge. He was started on medication. On 8/13, Slushy escaped from his kennel and scratched a staff member on the leg while they were trying to catch him. He had to be caught with a net to prevent him from attempting to go into the ceiling. On 8/13 during initial intake exam was noted to have clear, dilated eyes, small dry spot on nose, minimal exam was done on his mouth but was noted front teeth had minimal staining. Otherwise bright, alert, responsive, very fearful, will bolt if given the chance. Got out of the kennel, scratched a staff member, was caught with the net, examined minimally and vaccinated in the net, only able to give FVRCP, microchip. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313
