Arnie Age: 3 Gender: Male Breed: Pit/mastiff mix Weight: 82lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: Yes - large dogs only Cat friendly: No Kid friendly: Older Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Low Despite the fact that someone tried to make him look scary by chopping off his ears and tail, Arnie is such a nice boy. He’s an easy and laid back guy that will be a great fit in a chill, quieter environment. He’s fully house trained and has no problem spending the entire day crated while you’re at work, and when you’re home he’s happy to hang out on the couch with his favorite toy. Arnie is a little sensitive - he sometimes will pancake or cower when you give him a “nuh uh.” He doesn’t want to disappoint you, and feels super bad when he thinks he has. Loud noises just aren’t his jam, and he doesn’t even make them himself - I have yet to hear him bark, even once. But if you sing to him, or say his name playfully, he’ll give you a big smile and sit on your feet to show you that he loves you. Of course, no dog is perfect, and neither is Arnie. He has precisely two flaws. The first, is that he’s an aggressive cuddler. He’s 80+ pounds and isn’t satisfied simply being near you. He needs to be ON you. He prefers to stand on top of you with his favorite toy in his mouth, trying to shove it into your mouth so you can chew on it too. You have to physically push him off of you, which is no easy task given his size and strength while you are sitting down with him on top of you. The second, is that he thinks small dogs and wildlife are snacks that are just playing hard to get. He’s easily redirected with his name, a “leave it,” or a treat. We have worked on his impulse control and he’s doing great - and aims to please. But if he sees a bunny before you do, buckle up because you’re about to go for a ride. Arnie’s big, strong, and has a low center of gravity so when he wants to pull, he really pulls. But otherwise he’s great on leash, knows how to heel, and gets little zoomies when you say his name or tell him he’s a good boy. Arnie is currently being fostered in Brookfield, IL. No out of state applicants, please. If you’d like to meet Arnie, the first step is to fill out an application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
