Meet Gigi, a beautiful girl with a gentle spirit looking for her forever home! Gigi is very patient when waiting for meaty treats --sitting nicely for them. She's a fetch pro, loving tennis balls and happily letting you take them back. With a little time and patience, Gigi will thrive in a loving home where she feels secure and cherished. Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Gigi at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her. Wiggly girl and became friends with a new volunteer very quickly. No guarding at all with toys. Very easy to handle! Per Staff 11/3/24: Gigi was very easy for leashing! She was snorting at me while I was leashing the dog next to her and I just had to walk her. She's a wiggly playful lady who loves pets! Very gentle and easy to handle. Right when we got out to the play yard she picked up a tennis ball and brought it to me. She doesn't really drop it, she just chewed it in my lap. Playful girl! No guarding, she was fine with me picking the ball up in front of her or reaching for it in her mouth. She Loves treats and takes them gently! Doesn't know any commands from the looks of it. Very easy on leash and no issues going back inside! Volunteer noted on 11/2/24: Gigi is doing great despite having just come out of a very long PCR testing (no walks for 5 days). Usually dogs are very stressed after being confined for so long but this girl kept her good manners. She is potty trained but is particular about where she goes, grass and dirt only for this proper lady! According to Gigi only bad dogs pee on the street. Gigi knows commands and is good at fetch, you can even take the ball from her mouth although she prefers to trade. Unfortunately Gigi has some itchy skin that is making her shed excessively. Being itchy, she loves to be scratched and even does little stomps for butt scratches. Per Staff 10/28/24:Gigi was initially neutral towards Stella Bella during their meet, was pacing and exit searching and not showing much interest in Stella. Stella was persistent and followed Gigi while attempting to sniff her face. After several attempts, Gigi snarled at Stella. As soon as Stella moved away, Gigi resumed ignoring her. Gigi preferred to keep to herself and was not interested in meeting the other dog at that time, possibly due to stress level. Per Staff 10/28/24: Gigi was very stressed outside for her dog meet- she kept pacing in circles around me and exit searching. She did greet the other dog a couple times sniffing and then quickly disengaging, however later on when interacting with the other dog again she would snarl and then walk away. Would like to do another dog meet once she had settled in more. Per Staff 10/28/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Gigi KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender KENNEL PRESENTATION: Gigi was on the other side for cleaning, lying on her bed asleep. She got up when called with soft eyes and a neutral body. She allowed very easy leashing. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the eval room, Gigi was pacing around and whining a lot. She was very anxious, pacing near the doors and near the gate. She came up to the handlers a couple times and gave a couple of wags. She never solicited affection but did allow some handling before walking away again. She is very gentle and prefers meaty treats/human food and sat very patiently for it. She allowed all handling and remained neutral and tolerant. PLAY No interest TOYS: A pro at fetch, loves tennis balls, and lets you take them Eval 2/13/24: Babs (previous shelter name) was neutral in the eval room with a low tail, but was excessively panting and pacing across the room. She wanted to be nearby her handlers and would follow them a bit around the room but was uncomfortable being faced head on/ would avoid eye contact and pets. She allowed handling but would walk away and didn't solicit attention at all. She is very stressed and unfortunately doesn't seek out comfort from people right now. No interest in treats. Adult-only home preferred due to nervousness right now. Can go to foster behaviorally Per Staff 2/12/24: 2/12/24, 9:30am: removed dog from inside vet hospital. She was dropped here by 2 women who claimed they found the dog near a dumpster behind their apartments. Attached stray from from vet. Dog is very sweet.
