Please meet Anka and her story. Foster placement can be tricky. It isn’t always about the new dog, but sometimes the change can have an impact on the foster’s dogs. Well, that is the case with our youngster Anka. Anka came into SPR when she was being rehomed all over social media. One of our fosters agreed to foster so we could find out more about her medical needs as she had a peculiar walk and some questions about her vision. Our foster has a dog in her home with a chronic auto-immune condition, so the change in the dynamics of the home have impacted her medical condition, we need to find a new foster home as quickly as possible for all. Anka is a 1-year-old petite, black GSD. She is young and all that comes with that! Playful and engaging but can be mouthy at times. Like all young adolescent GSD, training and socialization is important for our fosters to work on. She has not had a lot of interaction with the other dogs in her current foster, but the prior person who had her said she was playful with other dogs. Doggie intro a must. Anka was recently seen by the vet, and they do not believe she is blind, but rather she may have a congenital issue she was born with or infection that has given her a neurological look to her. We are running blook work and working with the vet on long term diagnosis and plan. Our current foster thinks the best home for Anka is with an active family, but one around as much as possible (They are working on crate training now) and if there are children in the home, they are older or teens. She isn’t big (around 40 pounds), but she will herd you instinctively. (working on that too!) She amuses herself with toys and chews. She would need to be watched around a pool. She is learning leash skills too. Like so many that come to us between 12 – 18 months, they are behind the curve in their training, so patience and consistency is needed to help them catch up. We are very anxious to get Anka into a new foster home ASAP. This petite young shepherd has so much untapped potential. We need to have a foster in the local area or within reasonable driving distance for follow up veterinary appointments. Please consider being a foster for Anka. You can apply to be a foster on our website at www.savingpawsrescueaz.org Woofs & Kisses, Lexie PS SHARE!!!!!!! The more we share the more exposure for SPR and Anka If you can give Anka an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks. Thank you for your interest in saving the life of a dog.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Anka, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
