30 Million Pets Need Your Help
Pet hunger is a hidden problem that often goes unnoticed by society. As we care for our furry companions and welcome them into our homes, it is disheartening to learn that millions of pets lack the basic sustenance required to live healthy and fulfilling lives. This can lead to pet parents having to make heartbreaking decisions to forego nutrition for themselves, or other necessities, in order to feed their pets. Despite the national attention to food insecurity, pet food insecurity is another crisis that looms beneath the surface.
We’re Taking Action—for Good
PetSmart Charities has been at the forefront of bringing attention to the issue of pet hunger. Our dedication to providing food and resources to pets in need has touched the lives of countless animals and their loving families, but we can’t end pet hunger alone.
Recognizing that pets are part of the family, we’ve joined forces with Feeding America®, a nationwide network of food banks dedicated to eradicating hunger among humans. PetSmart Charities provides nutritious pet food, lovingly prepared by our partner Alphia, to be distributed by Feeding America partner organizations alongside human meals. Unique partnerships like these leverage resources to create a more comprehensive and impactful solution to ensure both families and their pets receive the nutrition they require.
Additionally, PetSmart Charities has teamed up with Meals on Wheels America, an organization renowned for its mission to support homebound seniors, many of whom depend on their beloved pets for comfort and companionship. By collaborating with Meals on Wheels America, PetSmart Charities helps support new and existing pet assistance services, including pet food deliveries, access to veterinary care, and other critical services, for pet-owning older adults.
