My story

SAUL / AGE: 1yr 5mths / MALE / MIXED BREED / WEIGHT 36lbs (16 kgs) / Rescued from Barbados / Currently fostered in InnisfilSaul is a sweet, goofy boy who perfectly balances adventure and affection. During the day, he’s always ready for fun, whether that means heading out for a walk, exploring new sights and smells, splashing in the water, or playing his absolute favorite game: fetch. He could happily chase and return a toy over and over again, always eager for one more throw. Curious, playful, and full of personality, Saul approaches life with a sense of wonder that makes every day more entertaining.While he loves staying active, Saul also has an excellent off switch. By early evening, he is usually ready to settle in for the night, curling up beside his favorite person for cuddles and a well-earned nap. He has earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because he loves being close to the people he trusts and is happiest when he can simply be by your side.One of the most special things about Saul is watching how much he has grown in confidence. When he first arrived in foster care, he was nervous and unsure of the world around him. With patience, kindness, and positive experiences, he has blossomed into a loving, playful companion who now seeks out affection, eagerly responds to his name, and isn`t afraid to show off his silly puppy side. There is something incredibly rewarding about earning Saul’s trust. Once he lets you into his heart, he loves with his whole heart.Saul can be a little cautious when meeting new people, especially men, and he appreciates being given the time and space to approach at his own pace. Once he feels safe, his affectionate and loyal personality shines through. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, enjoys greeting canine friends on walks, and has shown no signs of aggression or resource guarding. He has also shown little interest in chasing wildlife, remaining calm around squirrels and rabbits.Like any young dog, Saul is still learning. He occasionally gets excited on walks and may pull on the leash, and he sometimes entertains himself by stealing a towel or blanket for a playful game. However, he responds very well to gentle guidance, consistency, and positive redirection. He is house-trained, settles well when left alone, and has shown no signs of separation anxiety.And if you happen to know the song You Are My Sunshine, you may already have a way straight into Saul’s heart. He absolutely loves being sung to and will happily settle beside you to listen. It’s a fitting favorite song for a dog who brings so much sunshine wherever he goes.Saul is looking for a patient, loving family who will continue building his confidence while embracing his playful spirit and affectionate nature.
